Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

Yes, constant fraudulent UPS notices....I just delete. I did look up UPS/recent hacks and didn't find any relevant recent information other then to ignore suspicious UPS notices.

Unfortunately, scams are rampant.  Important to practice internet safety strategies.

I agree with @BlueFinch:

I doubt they were hacked. Some boiler room has phone numbers and e-mail addresses and they're just trying everything that most people use, or are familiar with enough to --- click a reply.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

Thanks for the replys. This is the 1st scam text I have received so just wondering if others have received the scam.  I get many email scams and just delete those like all of you.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

@grandma2pkmh  They have not been "hacked".  This is the easiest scam, next to robo calls.  They just write a generic message and assign it to be sent out to a bank of numbers, using various area codes and starting with like 1000 through 99999 and let the program go through the numbers.  If it hits a working number and the person responds then "winner winner, chicken dinner" for the scammer.  This is not a company that has been "hacked".  They don't even have "your" phone number.  It's a program that runs through auto "dialing" all the numbers they have been programmed to just like robo calls.  It's annoying but it's the way of the world now.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

I don't know if anything has been hacked but once scammers get your phone number they will not only send annoying phone calls but annoying texts as well.

I get a few texts each week from "Amazon" telling me that my account has been suspended.  I just "report junk" & delete.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

@grandma2pkmh    I'd treat that message as a scam, but I wouldn't assume it means UPS was the scammers source for your information.

I seem to get messages like that often from Amazon or Paypal.  I know they're scams because I don't have accounts with either company!

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

If it sounds like a scam it probably is. If they want to get in touch with me they should know the proper methods. I don't answer anything I'm not expecting. If I didn't ask you to call, don't.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

I've been getting texts from UPS telling me no one was at home to sign for a package.

Ignore them.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

I have been getting fake messages and emails supposedly from FedEx, UPS, and USPS for a few months. Annoying! You can tell they are fake because they will have periods between the letters, like U.S.P.S. I just delete. Don't ever open them.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

I got a text message this past Sunday afternoon telling me my credit card had been blocked and I needed to click on the link to get it straightened out.  I just deleted the text.  It is all lies just like the devil is.

Re: Text Message pretending to be from UPS

I have been getting similar e-mails for about a month.  Most say postage is due before that can deliver, some say an address is needed.

The funny thing is, UPS doesn't use postage and they do not have my e-mail address.

These scamers are getting creative.
