Will someone explain this---in the name of a clean environment we are doing away with straws, plastic bags, incandescent lights, fossil fuels, and a variety of other things...but why nothing is being said for all these scents being added to our laundry detergent and dryers.... as I walk down my street you can smell "the scent of Gain"  coming out of the neighbor's dryer vents blocks away fom them.....its enough to gag a person...but no mention as far as the environment...🤔

You can't stop progress. Consumers our age have about 10-20 years left to drive. The car companies don't care what we think. They are catering to the new generation who are buying electric and living and thinking green. Complaining about the inevitable isn't going to stop progress. It's all about money and the demographic buying your product. And we aint it.

Many of us won't be around to see it, but the transition is in progress.

@JamandBread

Yep, you are right ITS ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!!!  To quote Mario Puzo from the God Father, “Behind every successful fortune there is a crime.” And what certain people in charge are doing to the general public will indeed be a "crime"......

Well that's part of the problem everyone caters to certain demographics and the younger generation but ignore those with living experience and even more disposable income....And these young people come from I WANT IT NOW, so if there's "growing pains" on "progress" they wont tolerate it...And I wonder how they will feel about the length of time needed to re-charge electric vehicles---as well as the increased costs. That's gonna be interesting...And I dont think they will tolerate the high energy bills that go along with green energy........Already Germany has the highest energy bills in the world and they going back to some forms of fossil fuels.....The problem is the younger generation rushes ahead without taking time for research and analyzing things first....they will stand in line for the newest phone or tech gadget then complain about "the bugs" in the device and problems with things not working as they should....as we say in sports...STAY TUNED~

Isn't that why we love capitalism, though? Of course these huge corporations are going to cater to up and coming generations. Our generation may have disposable income, but how many more cars are we buying in what's left of our lifetime?  People in their 20s and 30s and 40s will buy several. And they will eventually ALL be electric.

I dislike comparing our country to third world countries and countries who's economic engines are much different from ours. None the less, the entire first world is going all electric in 10 years and there's nothing going to stop it. These are decisions that were made by independent corporations who answer to boards of directors and stockholders. Governments forcing private industry to manufacture specific products is overreach.

I have been trying to understand the term Global Climate and the so-called Global effects.

Using that as my guide, when oil or natural gas, is found in other countries, it doesn't effect the Global Climate. But if done so in the United States it creates all the issues with the Global Climate. Got me thinking.

So as long as China/India and other countries produce it, and in a less friendly environmental way, it doesn't effect the Global Climate!  Makes perfect sense, to someone I guess, but not this old guy.

Go to other countries to get our much needed energy source/pay more money to do so/and those pipelines run directly to the United States, or are they shipped here on sail boats, or electric or windmill powered oil barges.

Now I see! Only 1 country, that is among the cleanest sources of producing energy, is responsible for 95% of the Global Climate Issues!  Makes perfect sense, maybe to those same people I mentioned in another post, that have thousands of $$$ in 3 and 4 dollar Bill's stacked up.

Think I got it. Now I am gonna take paper to pen, and figure out why in the last year and a half, filling up either of our internal combustion engine vehicles, cost me over twice as much. Give me about 30-45 seconds and I'll get back to ya'll.

@JamandBread  First, this isn't progress unless you see all the negative impacts as such.

Second, it's not the new generation that the car companies are catering to. There's a group dictating policy to companies and world leaders.

Third, you are right about a transition happening. Very unnecessary and quite unfortunate. (people need to look at the bigger picture here)

Issues in Germany have been mentioned but are people aware of what has gone on in Sri Lanka and why? (hint: they started down the transition path around 10 years ago more or less, they now have major shortages and the prime minister just declared the country bankrupt. The people are justifiably not happy and the president flew the coop. If people haven't heard about this, a) there's a reason and b) you need better news sources especially before touting green energy and climate change.)

It may also behoove people to take a look at what's happening in Denmark. (hint: food is about to be an issue worldwide but the Danish gvt has decided to cut back on farms/livestock because 'climate' which will put farmers out of business and make the upcoming food shortages worse. Brilliant! Again, if people aren't aware, ask yourselves why and find better news sources.)

We are not Sri Lanka. We are a first world country with a democracy in which presidents haven't "flown the coop" for 250 years.

As for the other stuff you wrote, according to Global Finance Magazine, Denmark ranks #2 out 149 countries ranked by per capita income, social support networks, healthy life expectancy, individual freedom, philanthropy, and the absence of corruption in government and business.

Guess they are doing something right. LOL. US is #16.

Do you also believe that our good air floats over to those countries only to be replaced by their bad air?

I think this conversation has now officially jumped the shark.
