I too raised my kids with everyone holding them. Two of my children were adopted internationally which brought a whole different perspective of what your children are exposed to.

How else do they start to learn affection.  These "overly cautious - no touching parents" must not realize how nice it is to have someone else take over once in a while.  Do those same parents send their babies to a DayCare?

I have to keep myself from busting out laughing in the grocery store when I hear women say they can't eat lunch meat because they are pregnant.  Even the nurse who gave me those recommendations in the OB office couldn't keep a straight face and said basically just know where your food is coming from.

@mimomof4 Yes she went back to work and I believe that her sister is watching the baby.  However what I thought was strange was she would take the baby into a place like Starbucks around a bunch of strangers when she was going through cabin fever just to get out.  Yet her extended family was kept at arm's length!
