One of the unique things to do in Arkansas is to visit the Crater of Diamonds State Park - the only public place in the US where you can dig for diamonds and keep what you find.
Arkansas also has a statue of Christ that is similar to the one in Brazil.
Arkansas is a beatiful state in my opinion.

The character balloons are all so cute! I also love the regular 'balloon-looking' ones too, with all the colors.
It's so fun to watch. Many times, over the decades, they have flown over my house or near my house. A couple of times I went up on a road north of me just to take pics. Fun!
Back in the day, I have gone up there for the - oh, I forgot what they called it, but it was barely morning and they would light them all up. There wouldn't be more than 100 balloons here, though. So, when I went to Albuquerque and saw the event there I was blown away!
The mass ascension? At night, we have the balloon glow.

Bee - I did go to the evening lighting, when I was there, and - just wow! I must have taken pictures...now I have to wonder where those pics are. I love taking pics.

I was born and raised in SW Pa. Pa is the birthplace of the USA. Western Pa is pretty much the gateway into the midwest. It was a fabulous place to grow up , Pittsburgh is a family oriented city. Lots of activity. Lots of sports teams. Opportunities to work and earn a decent living. Fairly low cost of living too.
On the con side - high taxes and very bad weather.

Sweet Home Alabama where the skies are blue!!!
One of the few states that have mountains and the beautiful Gulf Coast beaches!
Lots of history, the first White House of the Confederacy, the home of the Civil Rights Movement, first street car, and where the Wright Bros. made the first flight, plus much more!
But it is HOT in the summer!

I was totally shocked by the heat. I think it was 118 in Phoenix one summer day. Phoenix is the worst place. It's a city built on a crater. Holy hot. Very transient and noisy. You can only stand that heat for so long. Why they built it there...I will never know. For allergy suffer's there's plenty there. People bought a long all their flowers when they moved there. So you can suffer with that in addition to the heat. The mountains are very nice. But more Cowboy then anything else. Gorgeous scenery. But nothing else. More old people (very much like that other hell hole Florida..and I'm in my 30's) and worst of all....urban development. That's makes Arizona even hotter. Eventually nobody will be able to live there. But pretty state.

I live in San Antonio, Texas.....while it can get downright hot and humid in the summer, but before the summer takes over, we get to experience a wonderful spring when the wildflowers are in bloom.....It's fields of blueblonnets, the reddish orange Indian Paint Brush, poppies and many others that create the beautiful scenery.....you can find them along expressways/highways, in the suburbs, and in the country....
