Sixth grade teacher who also taught science to grades 6-8. He made everything interesting. He brought a crocodilian to school that lived in our classroom in a large plywood box with a sliding top made of some sort of thick, clear plastic, there was a light bulb for heat. We had a contest to name it and the winning name was "Snappy Tom". The teacher would dangle a cloth over the box and Snappy Tom would bite the cloth which allowed him to be removed from the box and placed on the floor. We loved it when he was out, scurried around and would freeze opening his jaws making a funny "phaaah" sound. He was about 12-15 inches long.
Home room teacher Freshman year also had a great personality. We still did the flag salute first thing in the morning, one day as we stood to begin he pulled down one of the chalk boards and there was a poster of Raquel Welch in a stars and stripes outfit.
