Same here, up the road from you in metro Denver in Jefferson County gotta love CO.  Maybe it's prevalent though in most states, don't know.

Well, somebody's gonna have to pay the piper and I guess it's us!  When money is spent somebody's gotta pay.

We get refunds from both state and federal, but we make a conscious decision to pay in at a little higher rate just to be sure we get something back. That way, there are no surprises in April.

We had a $50 million  school referendum pass yesterday in Spring election for school upgrades building and staff over 20 years for a small town school system of 2000 pupils or so.

On a $250,000 home expect an increase of $150.00 on property taxes a year.  I expect $100 increase. It was voted down twice before in years prior, but 66% in favor this time. The seasonal home owners with high property values likely didn't vote but are more able to afford an increase.

@rockygems123 @SilleeMee  No senior discounts on property tax or school tax in NY. I forgot about our village taxes. We get a small discount on those. Whopee.

I believe property taxes are the worst tax ever and I can't figure out how people ever agreed to it. You never really own your home if someone can just take it from you even though you've paid it off. Absolutely unreal to me.

@pigletsmom  Yes, the State owns the title....and the home. When we paid off our home, we never received the title....nothing to burn like in the old days once you payed off the mortgage.

The last 2 years were a major shock!!!  We were in complete denial and trying everything we could to make it easier.  Did not work.  We are getting them done tonight and I'm praying hard that it goes better.

I'd be thrilled if people like Jeff Bezos paid the same amount of taxes I do. Even more so if they paid the same percentage.
