Who here has tattoos if anyone? What do you think of tats?

Oh a a few years ago, I thought about getting a tat with Beatles lyrics.

Now my oldest granddaughter (almost 20), wants me to get a tat with her with the Beatles lyrics "In My Life I Love You More" (period thats all it will say!). I said I would do it after the New Year.

I think it will be cool to get it done, although I haven't decided where on my body. But I am talking small words nothing extravagant and maybe a heart behind the words. (I just feel I am too old to be having a big piece of art on my body. lol Just my opinion as I often think what will all these young people who get them look like in 30 years with tats?)

Anyway granddaughter went and got her first tat, its a David Bowie album cover type tat on her shoulder.(shes an old soul and we love all the same music, among many other things we agree on taste wise).

I think the art work is magnificent, really outstanding, but as I looked at the picture I couldn't help thinking will she regret this when shes my age? (I know its her business so I just thought this to myself I didn't say it to her).

Lastly, now since she went shes going to get another tat on the other shoulder next too! (in addition to the one with me!).

So I think i will get the lyrics above with her, and I am kind of excited about it, but there's where I draw the line on tats. If any other grandkids ask me in the future, I wont get more. lol..

You?

I personally would never get a tattoo. I pass no judgment on anyone with a tattoo or two, but I will admit to disliking multiple tattoos all over, most of them quite visible.

Saw a guy sitting in an expensie restaurant the other day wearing cargo pants that were knee length. From his knees to his feet he was tattooed solid with a pattern, the sleeve look. His partner had been specifically tattooed so that both shoulders in a cold shoulder blouse showed large tattoos.  That kind of gung-ho with tattoos is not something I would ever like.

I have a tattoo of a rose, with my name "John", on my right forearm. This was done 59 years ago.  Personally, am not a fan of words or phrases, nor of large and numerous tattooed body parts.

Never have regretted getting mine during my time in the US Army.

I have 4 smaller ones the largest on my wrist is about 4 inches, one on my thigh, front of shouder and cleavage area.  I have always wanted an armband which I still might get.  I really like to checkout the tats of others and find so many have emotional meanings.

@Shorty2U I don't have a lot to say regarding tattoos one way or another; I don't have any but they don't bother me. I have a few family members with several, and they are happy with them.

I just wanted to comment on the relationship with your granddaughter, and your shared bonding over music and song lyrics. How absolutely cool is that Smiley Happy. I have a deep appreciation for lyrics/music, always have. Being able to share that love of music with someone close to you is pretty neat.

Please let us know how you like it once it's done.

Merry Christmas!

I have 3.

A butterfly on my left shoulder, that I got seven years ago, as a birthday present to myself, three roses on my upper left arm to represent my parents and myself, and of course, the luon on my right calf.

@Shorty2U - I was 51 when I decided that I was going to get one!

I have a filigreed butterfly, done in brown on the inside of my left ankle.

I figured once things started to sag and go south, it couldn't go much further south than that! Smiley Wink

I have a total of 10 (small to medium), but you'd never see them unless I want you to.

I'm 64 and my latest one was this year after my brother committed suicide, I had his name put on the inside of my wrist.

Within the last 2 years I have gotten 5 tattoos. Never had tats throughout my entire life! Funny part of this story is, I am 63 years old!!  Deciced to do something for me and me alone. Love my tats. I get compliments all the time. They say once you get one you are already planning for the next. How true!

At 64, I don't have any tattoos and never will. I wouldn't even get my ears pierced a second time!!  But both of my kids have multiple tattoos and my daughter has multiple ear piercing in one ear.
