Re: Target Reorganizes Their Toy Section

[ Edited ]

Do you know how difficult it was to purchase non blue clothing for 3 boys growing up?? I always went for the other colors like reds, green and white in toddler clothing.

Yes, my 3 boys did have a cooking kitchen courtesy of Little Tykes and I bought the Fisher Price 'food' for them to create meals on that range/sink/fridge contraption with the 2 requisite chairs for the kids to sit on.

It ended up once they all graduated pre-school, being donated to the pre-school for anyone to play with.

When I volunteered there, guess who was at the kitchen center area all the time? Yes, the BOYS!

The girls liked playing with puzzles and building with the Duplos (the big block version of Legos-- designed for pre-schoolers). I still have a bucket of them at my house for the eventual grandkids to play with someday.

I also have the Brio train set with all of the wooden cars, buildings and other fun things to create your own village with a train track running through it. That was played with by both boys and girls when they came over for play dates.

I always bought toys that were to stimulate their minds and if it turned out to be girlish-- are View Master discs considered feminine?? LOL the 3 boys played with it.

And if you can't figure out what toy is for girls or for boys-- action figures are dolls you know that boys play with; then you have a problem. Most kids will choose any toy and do not pay attention to labels-- its the parents/grandparents who get all hung up on labels.

And the world gets more stupid every single day.  This is absolutely ridiculous.  As usual, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  And now Target has decided to cater to the minority.  I sent them a message (which will fall on deaf ears) letting them know that I will no longer shop with Target.  I am SOOO sick of this kind of stuff.  Geez.

Great comments - ITA with all of them. This is beyond stupid and ridiculous. Target won't be getting any of my business either.

What is it that you find so offensive about the outcome -- the removal of signs that label a toy as being for a girl or boy?

READ post #26. She's EXACTLY right. It's a BIGGER issue than removal of signs.

So are they going to take down the signs for the boys dept. and girls dept. in the clothing section?

How about Ladies/Women's/Missy's and Men's department signs coming down too?   Should all the clothing just be together?

Apparently that's what some people would like.  Sad, isn't it?

Beyond sad. This whole issue is a perfect example of someone who has nothing better to do than to complain about something so trivial and unimportant.

I just can not wait for the day when no one is offended any more by any thing. I don't care what Target goes with toys as I can figure out on my own what to get.  We have big problems to solve but everyday is some story of someone be offended about something. I am just waiting for the day when some short wants to change the name of shortcake. We have become a nation of complainers.

But you are complaining, so are all the rest who think Target is destroying gender identity.

The rest of us are happy with the change.

 And many are not.

Hey, we're all tired of something.

I'm tired of those who use the PC card with abandon every time a change occurs in society or someone takes offense at something.

I'm tired of complainers and whiners complaining about complaining and whining.

I'm just tired.

Your reply made me think if this (for some odd reason).

lol

Now all I can see in this scene is MK as a mother in a Target toy aisle.
