I like Tameron, but she was getting a little too full of herself which unfortunately happens. From what I understand she was offered a substantial raise with her renewal. So she chose to pitch a hissy fit and leave. Bye bye.

Well, that doesn't make much sense.  Roker and Hall are two completely different people with two completely different circumstances.  Money isn't everything for most people and Hall has been making big bucks for years.  She wasn't cash poor and she's only 40something.  She's is not at the end of her career and she obviously did what she felt because she wants to work.  That's non ego in my world.  It's a work ethic and self respect.  It's also not a big deal.  Reporters and anchors move around all the time.

@I have to agree with @stevieb. She would have to be superhuman and exceptionally evolved (a la meditative monk on a hillside) for her ego not to have been bruised. IMO, she was replaced and she was hurt, shamed, embarrassed, and chose to stick it to 'em by walking away. If she thought she was better than their offer or could do better, well, that's her ego speaking too. ;-)

The big kids never let ego get in the way.  It's what got Nixon in the White House.    It's about the business and what's doing best for your career at that level or you simply fall by the wayside, out of site out of mind.

In fact, that has happened to a former QVC host or two. . .

I don't know, I've been giving this some thought and I have to say I kind of admire what she did.  She walked away on her own terms and because of the buzz surrounding Megyn Kelly's arrival she probably already had feelers out there in order to secure her next step.  Please know for the life of me I don't understand what NBC is/was thinking in making this move but for me I give Tamron props on walking out on her own terms.  Most of us don't have that option so I guess I am living this through her own experience . . . My sentiments exactly @momtochloe.  This couldn't have been on impulse.  Since the news broke that Kelly was coming, Hall and Roker had to know they would have a choice to make.  Roker already had a recent multi years contract.  Tamron's contract was ending.

Obviously, she did what was best for her which was to walk away on her own terms.  Nothing wrong with a healthy amount of ego as long as it's not to the point of being a narcissist.  Apparently money was not her first priority, nor was doing what would look best for NBC.  NBC looked out for NBC and Tamron Hall looked out for Tamron Hall.

I don't think I would want to work for a company or trust them to have my best interests (if any) that treated me like they did her. Just like Ann Curry, NBC doesn't have a good track record for how they treat their main anchors or reporters-except for Matt!
