They get forgotten.
Why aren't they honoring ALL of the soldiers who died?
Their names and pictures should be plastered everywhere too, not just a select chosen few.
I agree in principle but not in practice. There isn't enough room for that many place settings. Patrons need a place to sit too.
And I think many, most even, really do mean what they are saying about this and that it is not just performative. They actually do care about previous troop deaths as well. This is just how they are expressing that, and their sadness about all the lives lost. Not only these 13 soldiers' lives matter to them.

This has been done long before this latest tragedy. My son has seen pics on social media and actually saw a table set (on Long Island) at a restaurant for soldiers who died when two helicopters collided.
And....plastered? @Anonymous032819
Plastered, really? SMH

@KingstonsMom Many of our local small restuarants and bars are doing this also, one had a can of local beer lined up on the bar, and labeled each with our lost soliders names. Sad, I know.
We had a brewery, now closed because of financial, that was owned by local policemen. They had a practice of setting a beer at the bar, with the name of each killed police officer. I remember it was extremely sad when we lost 4 members of our police unit in one incident, the small bar was lined with a glass, and the bar chairs were tipped to reflect they were reserved for our blue! Tributes are very touching, and I find that for the ones not remembered specially, we have a big Christmas tree in our community arena, boots on the floor, pictures and ornaments with names on the tree. I give thanks for those that serve and protect me. Bless them.

There were many injured along with those 13 soldiers we lost in the attack.....we need to pray for those who are in Germany being treated for their injuries, some are critically injured. The media needs to report and update their progress. I believe some were airlifted back to the US, but little info is being reported.

A Fallen Soldier’s Table, also known as a Missing Man Table or Fallen Comrade table, is the humble way we remember and honor the sacrifice of the men and women who gave their lives protecting our freedom.
This Saturday hundreds of bars and restaurants have followed the tradition of reserving a table with 13 beers in honor of the marines killed in the Kabul attack.
It may seem like an image taken from a movie, but no, it is the reality of American society where every death of a soldier is received as a severe blow, but they also know how to pay tribute to their veterans and, above all, to those who fell in combat.
Most of the bars and restaurants that pay this tribute have some relationship, in one way or another, with the Armed Forces. Either because they are owned by war veterans or because in practically most American families some of their members have served in the Army. In other cases, it is the canteens or bars near military bases, common meeting places for soldiers, that follow this tradition..

I think the tributes are lovely. What is even better is that no more troops will be killed in Afghanistan again.

This is the only report I read. It's from a Germany reporter.
The 20 U.S. service members injured in the Kabul airport attack last week and treated at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany have all been transferred to Walter Reed in the U.S. for further care. Some came to LRMC in critical condition. All are stable, says LRMC commander.
Most had blast injuries from shrapnel. A few gunshot wounds were also treated. LRMC also treated some Afghans injured in the attack and evacuated to Germany, officials said.

There are no troops abandoned there. The military operation has ended and all troops are out. Hopefully never to risk their lives in Afghanistan again.

Mitary operations rely heavily on local support and staff to be safe and successful. If you feel no loyalty for those that have been employees, collaborators and friends to our soldiers, well so be it. I am sick as to what they will now face having been abandoned.
