Re: TROLL? Why be rude to others?

Everyone knows there are trolls on every chat board, especially the news home pages. It is what it is and you shrug it off. However, there are some who consider anyone who doesn't agree with their point of view a troll.  If you are posting on a chat board where people express their opinions, you have to expect someone who has an opposing point of view. You can't MAKE someone agree with you if they don't. There are also some who like to dish it out to others, but then play the victim when someone responds to their nastiness. It's all a matter of perspective, isn't it? You need a thick skin and a sense of fairness tempered with a sense of humor to post on most chat boards, and believe me, this board is the most polite of all I have seen.

Re: TROLL? Why be rude to others?

@INDIANA BONES---I read your story about the clothes and had to laugh.  I figured you wanted a space to sit down or lay down.  Anyone who was upset was just plainsilly or jealous of a woman having a ton of clothes, shoes and handbags.  Maybe your SO is saving things to give to your daughters.  Enjoy the threads, everyone does or they wouldn't be here.

I think I have posted something that is not agreeable to others, I dont like to argue, but debates are always fun.

Again, enjoy the threads and all that are here.  I enjoy reading your responses.-------------tedEbear

I agree with you in that debates are fun and informative.  One at times gets tunnel vision and it is always helpful to be offered the advice/thoughts of others as long as it is intended with good intentions.  This can be beneficial in all aspects of life.  Thank you for your kind remarks. Look forward to posting here with you and others although most areas of posts I really have no interest in some areas but some catergories have been very beneficial to me.  The kindness of others has been awesome..

Hi, Moroco.  You have been given much good advice.  I read this little saying on Pinterest and really liked it so thought this might be a good time to share it.

Be strong, but not rude.
Be kind, but not weak.
Be bold, but don't bully.
Be humble, but not shy.
Be confident, but not arrogant.

You need a thick skin to post on these forums.

Most of all, we need to remember to NOT read between the lines.

However, I do see too many posters get all riled up when someone disagrees with them and claim that someone is being mean.  A different opinion or perspective does not equate to being mean.

You also have to realize people in different parts of the country have different speaking styles.  Some are very direct and straight-forward but that doesn't equate to mean.

@INDIANA BONES  Just a technical tip.  It is possible to respond so that it doesn't look like your response is part of the origianl quotation (as I have done here on this post).  However, what happened to your response above does happen often too.  When it does, I go back and put my response in a different color and/or different font, so it doesn't appear as if it's part of the original quote.  Just a tip so people can distinguish your response from the original post.  When you have quoted other people's posts, I am having trouble distinguishing where theirs ends and yours begins.

@RainCityWoman

All is well.   I have learned this is just a matter of different opinions and ways we go about sharing them.  Thank you for sharing what to expect here and how to best get along with others in cyber space.  Stuck on the couch for a few days.

I have actually had some learning experiences here such as cooking and cleaning.  Who knows how great I will be after I put to use much of the great advice I read.  Just kidding about being a great guy. Smiley LOL
