TORNADO WARNINGS IN KANSAS CITY TONIGHT

[ Edited ]

Just came up from the basement. Eight county area affected including eastern KS and western MO. Power outages. Strong, straight-line winds (80mph) moving northeast of Kansas City, Missouri now to rural areas. Many 'spin ups' from large cells. If you're in that path, listen for possible warnings tonight. Caution for more activity, same areas, tomorrow. Be safe!

That must be so scary, I hope you'll be ok.

All clear for metro area now. Some rural areas are yet to be affected tonight. No doubt our Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Texas posters are familiar with this strong activity during the month of May. Other states as well.

Strong winds and rain moving thru Tulsa now. We are under tornado watch until 11:15. We don’t have a basement but we are ready in a moments notice to get into our hiding place.

I'm so sorry to hear about your frightening experience.  I'm glad you are alright.  I'm morbidly afraid of tornado warnings and strong winds that accompany storms.  Blessings and protection to everyone in the path of storms.

@jeanlake I hope that you stay safe and nothing happens to damage your home.I just can’t imagine how scared I would be hiding from a tornado.

Re: TORNADO WARNINGS IN KANSAS CITY TONIGHT

This is springtime weather in many of our states. I've been through about 3 tornadoes that frightened me. One was on the highway driving to St. Louis and traffic halted. Hail hitting my vehicle was louder than the radio, then the massive, dark storm cloud lifted and I was on my way. I did see trees uprooted as I drove along. I retreat to the basement 'just in case' probably every spring season when I hear sirens. Last night there was a tornado that did not touch down about a quarter mile from my home. Greatful it kept moving along. I'm sure there are many stories floating around. Nature is powerful, frightening and amazing. Thank you for your kind words. More activity predicted later today in the atmosphere for us Midwesterners. Be safe!
