Boy Scouts are dropping the word 'Boy'

[ Edited ]

The Boy Scouts of America doubled down Wednesday on

its quest to become the scouting organization of choice for

boys and girls, announcing it will drop "Boy" from the name

of its signature program.

The new name for its Boy Scouts program: Scouts BSA.

Chief Scout Executive  also unveiled the group's new

"Scout Me In" marketing campaign aimed at promoting

inclusiveness."We're trying to find the right way to say

we're here for both young men and young women."

What are your thoughts ?

I think some media outlets may report the change in a negative light, and others may report it as a positive move.

Why don't they just combine the two ,boy and girl scouts and just call it Scouting or Scouts?  like ,"I want to join ,"the Scouts", or  "I want to be a Scout"........

By this I mean just  disolve the 2 of them into one without all the hoopla!

Because now what will happen to the "Girl Scouts" ?   Who will join ? Who will sell, GS Cookies?

They could be known as "Scout Cookies"

Lots of organizations and companies are fighting to stay relevant, and I bet some parents would hate for these types of organizations to go under.

I was both a Brownie and a Girl Scout, but doing so was a lot more important to my mother than it ever was  to me.  I couldn't buy into a lot of their activities ....   and couldn't wait to get out.  I'm sure others had better experiences than I did with these groups.

Re: Boy Scouts are dropping the word 'Boy'

Today’s political correctness culture is destroying

the essence of our youngsters ...who they are and their

ability to create and imagine.

The Boy Scouts of America organization has been around

for over 108 years; it did not need any tinkering or any

changing and now it seems like the minority won out again

over common sense.

There is nothing wrong with having an organization for just

the male gender or only the female gender. We are not

created to all be the same as our culture is trying to do.

Wow, hope they don’t drop the word “scouts” too. If they do, I won’t have any idea what to call them.

So does that mean when they go on camping trips the boys that want to do girl things sleep with the girls & the girls that want to do boy things sleep where the boys sleep? How is that going to work?

If I had young daughters I would not want them going on camping trips with the Boy Scouts.
