Hello, all - 35 miles outside of DC it has been somewhat grey and drizzly today, in the high 40's.  Not frozen over yet.

I'll take the somewhat mild temps for our area.  Keeps heating needs down.  Fortunately, we have had sufficient rainfall lately, to make up for a late summer deficit, and are in no danger of an ample supply.

I look forward to Spring.

Your weather in the Chicago area sounds just like here lately when it isn't raining.

Re: THE WEATHER

[ Edited ]

@Noel7, this is far from normal for this time of year, it should still be pretty darn cold yet. Per Accuweather, this weekend should be in the 50's,then the temps start dropping again.

I lived in Alameda from 1994-1997, I loved the area. From what I remember, there were maybe 3 months of winter type weather  cold enough to need a coat, boots, etc, but it started warming up nicely at the end of February.

Here in Chicago it's around 40 with light rain.  Now it's foggy.  I LOVE winter and am so disappointed there isn't any snow.  This is the type of weather we experience during late March/early April.  We have three large dogs and keeping the mud off their paws in this weather is brutal!  Tomorrow might be near 60!  Oh, man...

Oh I feel just as you do @Julie928.  With the contstant rain and warmer temps, my backyard is muddy and so are the dogs paws.  At least when it's cold, the ground freezes.  And my dog loves to play in the snow and we haven't had enough this year for him to do that.  Here's hoping that February brings some snow!

@Noel7

Here in N Central Texas, today we have warmth and sunshine.

The first part of the week it was 48 and damp.

Extreme temperatures and weather swings are not good for our general health and even sleeping patterns!

Noel, I have experienced thunder snow once-complete with ball lightening-I was scared out of my mind.  I thought the ball lightening was a power line, but on the news that night, quite a few cameras caught it.

I didn't see TWC this morning: if Jim Cantore was in your neck of the woods I'm sure he was ecstatic: did you ever see that commercial when he's gushing with excitement over thunder snow?

It sound like Ca is in for some tumultuous weather on every front, and Dr. Greg Forbes-severe weather expert- was on quite a bit today. Tornadoes are going to be threatening the south.

Be safe and stay warm,

Partly cloudy and low 50's today for southern WV.   Rain comes back tonight and tomorrow, plus more showers next week.   Cold temperatures and snow return next weekend.

Hi @Poodlepet2 ! Smiley Happy

I've never heard of thunder snow, I have to look into that!  I also haven't watched the weather channel, I have to see what I've been missing... blush.

I have seen pix of ball lightening, I'd be scared, too.

Thank you for the good wishes, you, too!
