We're invited to a 40th anniversary party for 2 friends.  Don't want to give money as they don't need it, nor do I want to give something goofy.  Any ideas you could send along would be appreciated.

If they are drinkers, perhaps a quality bottle of champagne?

I'd send a pretty arrangement.  That gives them something nice for their celebration, plus they have something to enjoy for the week.Smiley Happy

Agree with champagne.  (Or some version thereof, ie prosecco...)

The 40th Anniversary gift is ruby, so get them something red.  A nice bottle of red wine.  A beautiful candy dish made of red glass.

An engraved picture frame with the date of their anniversary

Almost impossible to say since I don't anything about your friends.  My friend's parents recently celebrated their 55th anniversary and we gave them a gift card to a very nice restaurant in town.  They are wine drinkers, another friend gave them an expensive bottle of wine.  A red that they will love but wouldn't buy for themselves.

All of the above are great suggestions...if it were me giving the gift I would do the restaurant gift card.

If you give wine or champagne, please make sure they drink first.  That gift would be lost on me.  My wine drinking days are over. It, sadly, makes me wheeze.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?
