It was dressing my entire life.  I'm from MA and it's possible that "dressing" is a New England thing but everyone says stuffing so in recent years, I've started calling it stuffing.  In the same way that I now say soda and not tonic.

I grew up on MA on the south shore & we always called it stuffing.  My mother was originally from PA & she called it stuffing too. I never heard anyone call it dressing until I moved away & met people from other areas.

I think you get more flavor & it stays moister when it cooks in the bird.  When I have more than what will fit in the turkey I bake it in a pan & it's never as good!

Stuffing but we always cooked it in a pan, not in the turkey.

Whether it's inside of the bird or not, it's stuffing.  Never knew what dressing- in the turkey sense-  was until I was an adult.  Dressing was always a "salad word."

I call it.stuffing, even though I do not stuff it into the turkey. I make homemade, but there is the famous "Stove Top Stuffing Mix".

Re: 🤔Stuffing or Dressing

Growing up my family called it stuffing mostly, but dressing was thrown in some.

Today I call it dressing and every once in a while stuffing.

Call it either one I like it.

I agree with half of your statement.  It's better outside of the bird (I like the top a little crispy) but it's still STUFFING!!!!  Woman LOL LOL!! Woman LOL
