Re: 🤔 Stuffing or Dressing?

For me: stuffing when in the bird; dressing when in a dish

Stuffing, and it's sooooooooooo good.

Me too.  Eating out T'giving and have their menu and they call it stuffing and this is in VA.

I was born in PA and it's where my parents were raised and there we called it stuffing.    I'm guessing a lot of what people call it has to do with what it was called in your home growing up.  My parents were raised in PA and it's always been "stuffing" which may be why they (and later us) use that expression even after having moved south where I hear "dressing" more often.

last year i had an idea for the day after thanksgiving. i formed some of the dressing/stuffing into thin patties and fried them on each side. i then served it with a sunny side up egg. it was DELICIOUS!

I fry my loose stuffing in butter before putting it into the bird.  I get it nice and brown and crispy on the edges.  It makes a big difference in the taste, and it’s never soggy. I don’t form patties, though.

Your idea is a good one.

Stuffing.  And it doesn't matter if it's in the bird or in a separate casserole dish.  It's stuffing. None of my family or friends say dressing.

I'm in CT and have never heard anyone here (from here, anyway) say dressing.  As someone else said, dressing is for salads.
