Stuffing!

It's always been stuffing, and always will be stuffing.

I make mine outside the bird, and make sure to add lots of sauteed onions and celery IN BUTTER!  We enjoy the Pepperidge Farm corn bread stuffing the best.

I've tried saving up stale bread to make my own, but honestly I think it comes out better with the bag.

I've eaten stuffing in Greek diners, where they add chopped apples and slivered almonds to their stuffing. I love it, but the rest of my family does NOT, so I leave mine pristine and eat the apple stuffing when I go out. Gotta please the family, you know...

@sunala. Yes, butter is essential. I'm often amazed at how much I use for this one meal!

I always said, never mind the turkey, give me stuffing & mashed potatoes and I’m happy. And yes, I’d be happy with just the stuffing by itself!

Re: 🤔 Stuffing or Dressing?

We have called it both but we don't put it in the turkey. I have eaten it at others houses where it is stuffed inside the turkey but the turkey is always dried out by the time the stuffing gets fully cooked. I don't remember my mother stuffing the turkey but she may have when I was younger.

[ Edited ]

last year i had an idea for the day after thanksgiving. i formed some of the dressing/stuffing into thin patties and fried them on each side. i then served it with a sunny side up egg. it was DELICIOUS!

@Irshgrl31201,Dry turkey can easily happen.  It's usually from too high heat.

I stuff my turkey, cook it in a bag, and cut the heat to 325.  Works like a dream and is even moist cold.

Re: 🤔 Stuffing or Dressing?

My family called it stuffing, even if it was cooked outside turkey.

Re: 🤔 Stuffing or Dressing?

Inside the turkey is stuffing here. But the best part of the entire meal is the Pennsylvania Dutch potato filling. Its mashed potatoes with bread, sauteed onions, parsley all mixed together and you bake it until its slightly brown. It's out of this world..So if I make turkey, I 'don't stuff it because we prefer the potato filling in place of stuffing. Also I do turkey in a cooking bag, its moist and never dry like some peoples turkey.

PS) However Thanksgiving DH and I go out..lol, And yes we will have potato filling w our turkey dinner at the restaurant too.
