 @hckynut   I think next time I would let the cat get the mouse! (a tetanus shot as has been mentioned might be good)! Funny story! Except the bite!
  Once when my husband was away and my son about 10 we caught a mouse in a trap. We both heard it and ran to see the mouse caught only by its tail. We were trying to release it when the mouse got free and ran in a hole by the pocket door.
  I duct taped the hole and we went to bed!

@hckynut

Oh my I would not have chased to save that mouse,  in fact, I'd probably run outside😮.  Every kitty for themselves😉

I have a frog who loves to "tease" my kitty every night.  He's living on my lanai hides all day (tried to find him) but as dark comes he's on the glass sliders hopping all over.

This morning my kitty, Frick, got out on the lanai.  I didn't see him go but I saw him at the door with 🐸 in his mouth.  I freaked out!  I scared all of us ...cat wasn't letting him go ...finally after chasing Frick he dropped him.

Tonight given a 2nd chance 🐸 is back "teasing" him again🤷‍♀️🙄.

Hope you're ok from that bite but I'm sure you will be keeping a eye on it.

Call your dr and see if you need a tetanus shot. Glad you treated your bite area and are tending to it, but always a good idea to check with the dr. Sounds like the mouse gave you a run for your money!

I had that happen a few years ago with 2 cats in the fray, along with myself. It was finally chased into the hall closet and I tried catching it by hand so it wouldn't be harmed. I didn't realize how high they can hop. It was like it was on a pogo stick. Finally I gave up. Later, I noticed the lid to the trap in the kitchen had dropped down. I took the trap outside and peaked in and saw the mouse. I taped the lid shut, got the car out and took it up the road to a field and let it out. I'm hoping for no repeat. BTW, I do hope you call your doctor. Being bitten like that is nothing to mess with.

Yup, you probably should have your doctor check that bite.....

Years ago, my cat carried a mouse into the house.  I didn't see the mouse hanging out of the cat's mouth until he was inside the house, unfortunately.  The mouse escaped and took off down the bedroom hallway, and I followed.  Adrenaline kicked in and I quickly grabbed the mouse in both hands and carried it outside and let it go in the yard.  Then, delayed reaction.  Back in the house a few minutes later, I got a chill and stopped in my tracks about halfway across the living room.  I just stood there and shook for a few seconds.  OMG!  what did I just do?  It all happened so fast.

Fortunately, I didn't get bit, like you.  But I washed my hands a hundred times that day.

@hckynut  Yikes!   What a story!  I would have ran the other way for sure.  I do agree with others that a call to the doctor may be in order, can't risk any type of infection these days.  Possibly a tetanus shot or antibiotic?   Be well and thanks for the chuckle.

Glad most seemed to like my mouse story. I had a tetanus shot 2 years ago so that part is good. Since it's been close to a year since my last visit to my GP, I called to see if he wanted to do a teleconference call.

He won't renew prescriptions unless you see him every year, which is good. Nurse asked how I was doing and I told her I have been great, but wanted to set up the doctor's call.

Kept a close eye on my thumb, and since I have a nephew and nephew-in-law that are doctors, I asked my nephew and he told me pretty much what I had done. No swelling etc. so I think it will be fine. Going to still keep a watch on it. Thanks for your concern.

Mice make me scream -- and I grew up on a farm. There's a dead (at least I think it's dead) mouse hanging from my neighbor's dryer vent. I'll have DH casually stroll over when he takes his walk and remove it. She hates mice as much as I do.

I loved your story, Hckynut. As much as I love animals I would not have the courage to catch and hold one. I agree that it sounds like it would make a good cartoon.
