Strange/funny/serious?  From my view all 3. Sitting in my recliner in our patio room yesterday morning. See Jasper, 1 of our 2 Male cats, playing on the floor, with what I figured was 1 of his many feline toys.

Then I realized when he let go of his toy, it took off running. No toy, a real mouse! Ran under something on the floor with Jasper digging at it. Out comes the mouse running across the floor.

Being I don't like seeing any animal get killed, I got up and got in the chase, hoping to catch this mouse before Jasper before he clamped down and killed it.Took some time racing around our furniture and cat and dog toys.

Finally I was close and saw the mouse climbing up the side of one of our wicker type chairs. I grabbed it and headed for the closest door. That danged mouse bit my thumb and I dropped it.

The chase was on again, this time I had a rag in my hand, thumb bleeding. This went on for what seemed like an hour. Finally that danged little critter was climbing up our entry door into the house.

I was able to grab it and squeeze it hard enough to keep hold of him(ever try holding on to a little wiggling mouse?). Got to the door I gave him a little toss onto the grass. He ran off and probably gleefully so.

Got to the sink and scrubbed the he!! out of my wound. Peroxide and neosporin and slapped a bandaid on it. Now Jasper is the angel that put me in the hospital for 7 days after he bit me. I've told that saga before on these forums.

So I googled "mouse bites" to see what I might in store for me. Guess it depends on the type of mouse, now how the he!! would most people know that? Kept a close eye on it all day looking for redness/heat or swelling. So far so good, that's why I waited to tell this story.

Anyone here try grabbing a scared mouse? If so, did ya catch it? If so, did ya get bit? There ya go: Strange/funny/serious? You all decide.

THE END

John, that sounds like a scene out of a cartoon.

You might want to have that bite checked by a doctor.

Oh John, bless your heart for taking mercy on all of God's creatures.  But I do think a call to your doctor might be in order.  Hoping that bite heals soon.

@hckynut    Except for your unfortunate mouse bite, your story is hilarious.  Who says you can't have fun alone in your sunroom while watching TV during a pandemic?

@hckynut   John,

Thank you for this great story, I can just picture You, Jasper and Mouse racing around and around!

I have had a few Mouse events, but have never been bitten.  Once our cats chased one into a bookcase, I chased it by pulling books out until it was cornered, cupped between both hands, no squeezing, took it out.

Once, walking in the yard, I noticed five of our cats gathered around looking at something, up to no good of course.  I moved towards them, and one of the Labs joined me in investigating.  When I got there the Lab had a small tail waving from his mouth.  I said, drop it, which he did.  It was a Mouse!  I cupped it in my hands and released it in the woods.  Labs have very ‘soft mouths’ and he must have picked the Mouse up out of curiosity, without hurting it, and then I guess he didn’t know what to do with it.  LUCKY 🐭 Mouse, escaped without a mark!

Thank you for saving Mr. Mouse, bet Jasper is disappointed.

I hope you have no ill effects!

Best Wishes to you and yours!

Hi @hckynut

You tell a story with such a vivid flair that I literally laughed aloud at your mouse misadventure.

You are indeed a humane person and I THANK YOU for saving that lil bud's life, even if it WAS at the expense of a chomp on your thumb.

I hope you don't have to wrangle a wiggler ever again.

Take care and have a mouse-drama-free week.

@hckynut   John, did you have a tetanus shot in the last 10 years? I would let a doctor look at that wound.

   Stay well.

Oh my....how nice of you to save the mouse....not sure if the story was mine to tell it would have ended that way.  Hopefully the bite heals with no trip the the doctor!

I would have been in the next county by now!

Great recreation of the events with humor included.  Hope you take care of the bite!
