My grandmother used to call them "rag" magazines...does anyone still buy those?

I sometimes grab a Women's World but that's not a gossip mag but once in awhile I am amused that every week somebody has the magic formula to take 10 sometimes up to 40 lbs off.

Re: Store Check out Magazines

I don't buy or subscribe to magazines anymore.  There is more than enough gossip on the internet..including on this board!

But I do flip through some of these magazines when I'm at the hair salon.  I do like checking out the photos.

Re: Store Check out Magazines

I used to regularly for gossipy entertainment, but only very rarely now (stuck in bed with a cold, etc). I don't know, or care at all, who or what 90% of the articles are about, the same photos and articles are sold to multiple mags so you get duplicates, and they cost more now in proportion to very little worth to me.

I subscribe to People and Us, they are my guilty pleasures. I love actual magazines, and they are very cheap. My community had curbside recycling every week , so the mags don't build up.

Re: Store Check out Magazines

My husband always reads those headlines on "rag" magazines when he is waiting in line at the grocery store. Then he comes home and tells me who is doing what.

I keep telling him that most of them are just made-up rumors.

I work for a doctor so I get to read People magazine for nothing.  I never read magazines in a doctor's office after the patients handle them.  I read in a magazine that's the worst thing you can do is read them in a doctor's office because of all the hands that's touched them.  Lots of germs.

I refer to them as "scandal papers"!!!  Love them - they are so amusing!  No, I don't buy them any more.  Too expensive!  I admit to looking at the covers while I am waiting in line.  I always think -- gee, I should buy one -- but I know that the cover story is super tantalizing and what's inside will be a disappointment so I don't.

I don't buy magazines. I have had many subscription's over the years, but have never bought a magazine from a rack. If I have? I don't remember.

My MIL use to love The National Inquirer. She was sure it was all fact. LOL

Now and then I would get Family Circle. Now I am getting a recipe magazine. So much can be found on line now.
