I was sent, via direct deposit, $1200 for my DH who died in May of 2019.  I called our Senator's office and they said they would let me what to do when the IRS told them.

The young man just called and is emailing the address where to return it.

I knew it had to go back but things are so screwy right now I wanted an exact address and instructions so there was no question later when things calm down.

It took a few weeks but by darn they did call me back.

I would photograph everything and send it certified with return receipt and hopefully you won't end up with some 'we didn't get it' issue down the road.

Thanks for advising the rest of us.  I know there are others for whom this debaucle also applies.

Yes...you must cover all the bases..and certified mail is what I would do too.
