Still Kinks in Forum Operation

There are still  major kinks in the forum operation that make it really hard to navigate.

1.  When I click on users (top right box) and put my screen name in the search box, most replies not listed.

2.  When I click on users (top right box) and put my screen name in the search box, those replies that are listed aren't listed in chronological order.

3.  Those that are listed have NO date or time listed.  This makes it impossible to follow up on posts and replies and carry on a conversation!

I thought we'd have these major flaws worked out by now.  No wonder people aren't using these boards now.  By the way, the number of people listed as being ON the boards is FALSE.

I've experienced these same problems - in addition to many others.

I'm hoping that someone responds with an answer.

Gosh, I HATE these new boards - they are so user UNFRIENDLY.

Where does one find the number of people listed as being on the boards?

Because the number of people actually logged in and using the forum always used to be around 150 or so on the old boards.  The number of those just looking was around a thousand or more.  This user unfriendly board certainly doesn't have ten times the actual users as the old familiar boards.  You can tell by looking at how many posts show up within an hour or so.

what device are you using? i am not having any of these problems.

you may also want to take a look at your settings for the forums, they may need to be tweaked or changed.

not sure about how you would know that the number of people that are signed onto the boards is false?

Re: Still Kinks in Forum Operation

There are icons to the left of each thread title.  If you see the one that looks like an arrow, you have posted in that thread.  Smiley Happy  Makes it easy.

If it's that speech bubble and solid in color either you haven't opened that thread or there are new posts.

If it's that speech bubble and it is empty (white inside), you have read all the posts in the thread.  I think that's the way it goes.

Anyway, the main one I look for is the arrow that tells me I've posted to a given thread.  easy peasy.  Smiley Happy

I dont' even know where you see how many people are on the site at any given time.  Even if I did, I would have no idea how accurate it is.  It probably changes second to second anyway.

Hi CB, go to the top left of the page under Community Menu, click on Blogs and Forums, then go down to where you see ONLINE NOW and some avatars.  Click on View All.  I will tell you though, it looks like the list is in alphabetical order, and it is, but it starts over again with a new list in alpha order somewhere around the middle at any given time.  Also, a poster can set their preference to not show that they're online.  I tried it, and when I find my name on the list, underneath it says "Invisible".  So who knows what the count is.  Also, where it shows how long you've been signed on and how long idle, that's not right either.  I forget to sign off and I'm not here for hours, and when I go back and look at that, it doesn't show I was idle at all.   It's weird, to say the least...Smiley Happy

Re: Still Kinks in Forum Operation

Ohhhh, I see now.  Thanks Sunshine and Kittymom!  I never saw that before because I just click on 'Forums'.

I cannot imagine a reason to even want to look at that info but I guess there must be a reason for some folks.
