Companies like this have to make up the loss somewhere. Again, I don't really care how they run their business because I don't care for their products.

There is no "loss." They had a profit of over 14 BILLION last year.

They are sharing some of the profits with their employees.

They are demonstrating that a company can be hugely profitable AND also share with the workers who helped them reach that success.

Terrier, I can READ, thank you. The initial news as reported is not what it seems. No big deal. (edited by me)

They're raising prices, so their customers are also going to pay their tuition.

Of course they are, if people want to pay $10 for a cup of bitter coffee, so be it, lol.

They are raising prices because everyone is raising prices on coffee...there has been a big decrease in production, due to some kind of blight.

their gross profit last year was 3.2B

sales + revenues 14.9B - 11.8B (cogs) = 3.2B

Thanks for the clarification.

The education program STILL isn't much compared to 3.2B.

The Walton's, on the other hand, are buying back stock with their extra cash...raising their stock price but not helping associates. They are in a much better position to raise wages w/o affecting their bottom line....they might see sales increase too!

Nope, not their style at all. They even provide health care for all employees who work at least 20 hours.

Not quite. A new employee has to put in 240 hours in a 3 month period to be eligible for health care. After that, the 240 hours must be attained in every quarter.

That's a LOT better than most places treat p/t help!

The first 3 months are usually probationary months at any job I have ever had.

I didn't say it wasn't better. The employee is not on probation; it is a requirement to attain and maintain 240 hours.

Sheesh.
