Very nice of Starbucks tho'
University of Phoenix is $10,000 a year online. You have to take online courses for the first 2 years, then you can go to the actual campus the last 2 years. This info isn't current, it's a couple of years old. This is what I was told when I called & spoke to one of their advisors.

how about a Chai tea latte, tansy?
You can get it iced or hot. I am not a tea drinker, but I LOVE Chai tea.

I am in the midst of looking for some SKILLED trades to do a lot of jobs around the house that my disabled husband can no longer do.
I cannot FIND anybody who is really willing to do the job ..it is either too small..they don't call back...etc.
The price for a plumber was shocking as well as tree removal etc. All prices we were willing to pay for decent competent work...
I say HVAC, electrical, plumbing, automotive..should all be included too!
... and may they be someone trustworthy! I agree, we will always need skilled trade as much as we need the techs, doctors, accountants... the need for home health care is growing rapidly. That certainly takes patience, self-discipline, physical and emotional strength. Skills not easy to find, and low pay.
I see what Starbuck's is doing as a good thing, it's a start and will give incentive to those who want to further their education to do so. Nice, too, that the employees are not obligated to stay with the company when they do get a degree. Great PR in my opinion.

Where I work we have an education reimbursement up to a certain amount every year which is a great benefit if you want to go to college. When my husband worked at UPS they paid a portion or all of college tuition but what a joke unless you could go on Saturday and Sunday, there's no college if you are a UPS driver...not working 12 hours every day.

Special graduates receive a Magna Cume* Latte.
* Which I had to spell incorrectly because of the stupid online censor

The cost of any college course is unbelievable. So everyone will be paying more for those Lattes.
The cost of the books is even worse. ONE CLASS for my DD in grad school required $800 in books.

Good for them. They will attract a much better garde of employees doing that and will probably educate their own future management .

They're already known for having a high grade of employees, so is Trader Joe's.

When my employer was paying my college tuition it required a certain grade be maintained and that I would get a certain point level in my yearly employee evaluations. Then at the end of the term when I handed in my grades I was reimbursed. So I used that money to pay for the next term. Also, i was required to complete my degree within a specified time period or i would have owed the money they had given me back.Employers don't just give you money without some strings attached.
