Yes, the temps are up a bit and no snow this week, but another thing caught my attention this morning when I went out side-the smell of skunk . It's their mating season (Feb/Mar) so the smell is in the air. Anyone else notice?

The skunks in our neighborhood must be mating all year round it seems, nothing worse than the smell of skunk first thing in the morning when you open your door, yuck!

Like SoCal Bred , skunks in my neck of the woods must mate all year round.  Also, they are nocturnal.  Only smell them at night right near the front & back entrance of the apt buildings.

I few years ago, I foumd their so called den under a pile of rocks & boulders in the woods.  Mr & Mrs skunk were sound asleep & I got out of the woods w/a quickness. Good thing I was carrying my dog.

No skunk scent here. We still have snow coverage, but it is melting.

That's funny about the skunks.  I live in NC and we occasionally have skunks.  I've been noticing more road kill rabbits and possums than anything else.

We used to have rabbits that would eat the grass near the entrance to the house so the outdoor camera always caught them.  Saw a mating dance one night. Unfortunately, the feral cat that the neighbor has been feeding is putting an end to our wildlife viewings.

@catter70

I was reading your post and got to the skunk part and said to myself, "wait is this me?"  I opened the door in the wee hours of the morning to let the dogs out.  They were frantic to get out. I was hit with skunk smell. The smell was too fresh and too strong for me to feel comfortable letting the dogs out so they had to wait.  56° and clear in East Texas.

My new neighbor, behind my house, likes to smoke weed in his yard on a regular basis, so it pretty much smells like skunk all the time around here.  Argh.
