Re: Spring Cleaning 2017 Do You Have A Strategy Or Priority Project?

I have got one closet cleaned out & a good start on the next closet. After the closets I will start cleaning out all the chest of drawers. I need to clean out the file cabinet & do our taxes. Dh has slowly been cleaning out the attic. I want to paint our master bedroom so that will be a chore moving all the big heavy furniture.

I have been on a cleaning and organizing binge around here. I have gone through my closet and have gotten rid of about 35 tops. I've gone through cupboards and the basement and boxed many items to donate. Some days it's very easy, other days not so much. It depends on my mood. It does feel good to see the results.

Re: Spring Cleaning 2017 Do You Have A Strategy Or Priority Project?

We had new carpet installed in our 33 year old house last August and it was like a breath of fresh air.  However, we literally had to move everything out of the house getting ready for the carpet to be put down.  It had been years since I gave all the closets and dressers a good cleaning out, so this was a great opportunity to get rid of a lot of stuff we didn't use anymore.  We rented a large dumpster for a week from the local waste collection company and did a major purge.  Anything that could still be used or worn went to Goodwill, Salvation Army and St. Vincent de Paul.  All the rooms were painted and scrubbed and it almost feels like a new house LOL.  The only room we didn't do anything to was the kitchen, so that's my big project for this year's spring cleaning.  I'm taking a week vacation in April, so before that I'm going to empty each cupboard and just keep the things I use on a regular basis.  During that week we're going to paint and clean the floors and windows.  I just LOVE having things in order again and having lots of space!

When we get back from snowbirding north for the summer I fall houseclean. I am done with that now. However, when we get back to our camp in Pa - our summer home - I will have to spring houseclean there. It's neverending.

Yes, my priority project right now is our basement...It needs to be reorganized and cleaned...There are several items that can be donated or auctioned off also...I have been waiting for my husband to "Spring" into action, but it hasn't been happening...I'm ready to hire a handyman!...LOL...Seriously!

I may just also reorganize myself while I'm at it and move to a nice little condo....and maybe bring the handyman along!...Spring Cleaning never looked so good!...LOL

I've already begun and I like to do it one room at a time. I like to do all the rearranging myself.  LOL I have to get the carpet guy to come in one morning and clean all the area rugs and then get someone to clean the windows.  Last week I had someone clean all the upholstery.

I think I'm going to treat myself with a set of Curtis Stone's pots, so ALL the old ones are hitting the trash. Any old spices, etc. have already gone but the kitchen is still a work in progress as far as getting rid of the "old".  I don't care for plasticware, so anything that my family has bought that is mis shapened, no lids, discolored or worn..goes.

I HATE clutter and many things have already been tossed.

You are an inspiration. I need to do the same and just because my Faberware from 1985 doesn't look all that bad, I would really love to buy something new!

Re: Spring Cleaning 2017 Do You Have A Strategy Or Priority Project?

Hi @Trinity11,  I've always been a "tosser." LOL

Every few years I get the urge to redo a room and clean out, throw out and replace.

Two years ago I received a call from or trash collector, they replaced our cans with LARGER ones because I over filled them.

I bought a set of pot four year ago (I won't mention the brand) and I hated them. So, I'm buying a new set and getting rid of the old ones.  I need new cookie sheets as well.

On Tuesday I want to go to Homegoods and replace all the bed pillows with new ones.  Even though I wash them and they have pillow protectors and cases, it's time for them all to go.

Re: Spring Cleaning 2017 Do You Have A Strategy Or Priority Project?

My priority project right now is cleaning clothes closets.  I have started this project and given a lot of clothing (gently used by DH and me) to our church for a monthly gifting program.  Before the end of February I want to sort out and clean the closet in our spare bedroom and donate more for the church program.  Once I get the bedroom closet finished I'll start on the den/office closet and donate likewise.  After that I will do my 3 linen closets.  I know I have a lot of sheets and towels, etc., that I could donate.

I'd like to hire a cleaning  lady to help with the kitchen, living room, dining room and bedrooms house cleaning.  Until then it'll be a whisper and a prayer.  I'm still in the healing process from a fractured arm in October.  I am not allowed to do much cleaning at present, certainly not heavy house cleaning.  So, I expect most of my spring cleaning will end up waiting until the fall season!

I have to admire your strength to be a tosser. I am opposite. I wash pillows and keep just in case. I keep duvet covers that have been replaced just in case. I guess I think of dollars spent.
