Re: Social Security Scam Calls

Started again ????   They never stopped, it's a business.   They make hundreds of thousands of those calls a month, hoping that someone will be naive enough to divulge information they can use for profit.  It's just one of thousands of such scams and it's nog going to end any time soon.

Re: Social Security Scam Calls

Yesterday mine started at 7am......is that even legal? They go to 10 at night. I never answer and get some very amusing "messages" .....they are coming to take me to jail for unpaid tickets etc etc. I never answer the phone unless I know who 's calling...and even then sometimes I don't answer LOL

Re: Social Security Scam Calls

If it helps you relax, DH (aka “the tax man”) said the government, IRS, SS, etc. never calls you on the phone. If they need any info, they send out a letter.

Re: Social Security Scam Calls

You can block their calls - but they have access to many phone numbers. I let my calls go to my answering machine OR I tell them to f themselves!!!!!

Re: Social Security Scam Calls

Today I got one on my cell phone......in Japanese or Chinese or something Asian sounding. And although the voice in my phone (after I've listened to the message) tells me press #7 to delete it, it won't go away.

@shaggygirl

I get those calls on my cell phone....I dont answer and they leave a message on my voice mail....SMH

Dont press the number they tell you if you want to be deleted from their list, all that does is tell the scammers yours is a live number....you will get even more calls...

There's another one.....

The recording is distorted because they probably used it thousands of times and now it's worn out.....

But its about a subscription and if you don't call back to cancel $299 will be charged to your credit card.......

I didnt answer ---and on a consumer website I saw this number and this message was reported as a scam......

The phone calls I received, from three different numbers AND a voice mail on my cell phone were all pre recorded messages.  The person said that they were Officer Catherine Richardson from the SSN department.  Said they had found fradulent activity under my name.  To know more information call us back on this number

404 382 8863 or 404 382 8863 (same number)

The FTC takes those calls impersonating a government agency very seriously I reported the call I got on the FTC.gov site and never received another call again....
