Who flushes feminine products down the toilet. Geeze.

Everyone I know. Everyone I've ever known. We had a discussion about it at work just last month. No one I know has a septic tank, and everyone with mains sewerage flushes those things. The thought of putting them anywhere else is rather "third world" to us.

(I'm talking tampons, not pads.)

Exactly! I always flushed my tampons down the loo.

unless there is a sign that says not to, i have always flushed tampons down the toilet......and we have a septic system.....no problems.

Yikes! Its a known fact that you NEVER are to flush tampons down the toilet if you have a septic system! I would think any septic owner would know that.

People who believe tampons - non-biodegradable products designed to absorb liquids and expand - aren't going to clog drains or damage septic systems are the same people who believe WEN, a water soluble cream, will clog drains and damage septic systems. {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

We have a septic system & nothing but nothing but what is supposed to be flushed goes in ours. Even when we were on sewer nothing other than what was supposed to be flushed was flushed.. that's nasty!

well, having been a septic tank owner for many years with no problems other than having it regularly cleaned out every 1-2 years i would say i am safe at this point.

I would imagine baby wipes would clog any drains.

I don't think baby wipes are meant to be flushed...

They are not. I've also learned that flushable wipes cause clogs.

All the years I flushed tampons, we never had a clog. Those days are long gone but in the last few years we've had a number of clogs. I was told not to flush wipes, switch to cheaper, less plush toilet paper, do not flush Kleenex and use tooth paste as opposed to gels.
