I've read that Philosophy clogs drains too. I think it must depend on the house and pipes.

What I noticed when I was using WEN was that I had more hair falling out in the shower but very little on my comb or brush and before WEN I had tons of hair on my comb/brush. I never had a clogged drain though. Every couple of weeks I pour 1/2 cup baking soda down the drain then pour a cup of white vinegar down. After the fizzing stops I pour a tea kettle of boiling water down and never have a clogged drain from anything.

I have never flushed them, never! I have seen public restrooms with signs that ask you not to flush your feminine products down the toilet because it will stop up the plumbing. I thought everyone knew that. It's just common sense. Have you seen how one does in water? It expands really big so it makes sense not to flush. Oh and there's no way on God's green earth I would use Wen so no worries there!

I'm with you. I've never flushed them. Terrible for the environment because cotton takes forever to degrade. The only things I flush are water, TP and what comes before I need TP.

On a related note -

The small plastic beads in some exfoliators are clogging water treatment plants and killing birds and fish.

New York is thinking about banning their sale.

The Great Lakes is a natural resource and source of water...it would be a shame if it was fouled up by tiny plastic beads.

unless there is a sign that says not to, i have always flushed tampons down the toilet......and we have a septic system.....no problems.

I did google it and I got a more balanced result (I particularly looked for UK opinions, since that is where I grew up). Some people flush, others don't. I still think it has a lot to do with where one grew up and the quality of the plumbing. Septic tank users are much more likely to say "eww, who flushes". I wasn't even aware of all the environmental concerns, never heard of those before.

What I find most interesting is that we all seem so unaware of "the other way to do it". As a flusher myself, I had no idea anyone wrapped them in TP and put them in the trash. We didn't even have a trash basket in the bathroom when I was a teenager. This was the first I heard, in my 50+ years, of "the other way to do it", and it seems those on the other side of the argument are equally as unaware. It's not often you find something so polarising, that you didn't even know existed before.
