QVC (and other shopping channels) isn’t entertainment; it is hardcore sale presentations 24/7. Find something else to do and discover life!

Here's an interview from just yesterday with QVC's CEO Mike George......

“Our customers are joining us for entertainment and for connection as much as they are looking to make a purchase, if not more so,” says QVC CEO Mike George, a bespectacled 56-year-old who’s helmed the company since 2006. In fact, the entertainment aspect of QVC is its biggest differentiator, setting it apart from the Amazons and Walmarts and shopping malls of the world. Though “content marketing” — creating valuable, authentic, informative content to build a loyal following and, eventually, sell product — is a buzzword now, QVC pioneered it decades ago.

And the thing is, they do it EVERY year... The same tired array of 'practical' qwap (and poo pourri to try to wipe away the stench)... I have found other ways to spend my time and to shop... That said, THEY are the ones that tout what they do as 'entertainment'... It isn't... The only conceivable entertainment value anymore is to see just how low they can go...

@Krimpette,   Totally agree with you.  I have not watched in weeks except for about 10 minutes.  I am sick of seeing "Gifts" for the program.  This is the worse time of year for watching QVC.  Cat Tongue

I def agree.....BUT add to that January & Feb with  all the New Year New You shows, Diet products , exercise equipment, etc.   So maybe back to normal programming by end of Feb/March....

I don't think there is 'normal' programming anymore... QVC has become painfully formulaic... It's the same things over and over again and to some extent it's seasonal, but it's the same season-specific things on offer.

I don't buy much from them. I am an older lady, love clothes but they are to expensive for me and the designs I do not like plus I am just 5 ft. I buy from Blair alot especially this season. I started at hsn no cable then and they hooked me with dolls and other collectibles. The dolls will go to poor kids I hope for there is no one else.

@JudyL

QVC used to be entertaining to watch - so those of us watching for many years still expect that. If the show were more entertaining, people would watch more - and buy more. It's that simple. I like to watch once in a while --- because most programming is depressing with endless commercials - so I tune into the Q. How do those women hosts talk so fast? They must have very strong lungs. I hear one out of 10 words. Too much hard selling!!!!! And --- they spend so much time (like 20-30 minutes on one item).

Your totally right! Whoever is in charge of  buying is definitely on autopilot and their gift giving is nothing but reruns (they might as well rerun last year's programming with a disclaimer --prices subject to change, check the website for current prices"....

But ya know STEVIE this year appears to be something "special"...something EXTRA BAD...a touch worse than previous years...if you can believe it........more repetition in presentations and they've seemed to scale down the product offerings even more.....Woman Frustrated

@Spurt I think that's true. I haven't watched a single show but looking online it absolutely looks worse than it ever has before. That might explain why not a single gift was purchased this year at QVC. I got everything elsewhere. God willing and we're all still around for another year, I suspect that by next year I won't even be checking to see what they're offering. You know, it would almost be funny if it wasn't such a shame.

If I see one more surge protector, they'll need to use it on me, because I'm about ready to explode.
