Re: So.....Who's Getting a ""SNOW DAY"" tomorrow?

We don't even get a paid snow day where I work, when the Mayor of Indianapolis issues a RED emergency alert saying travel is restricted within the county to emergency vehicles only. What a crock.

Having a great time watching all the different birds at the feeder.

Also saw a fox out prowling for food.

So glad I can stay in.

Theyre calling for 4 to 8 here in PA and then temps in the teens and also lows below ZERO wind chills for days. And drifting snow, so the streets will stay covered. Our weather man said it will not be above freezing as far as he can see on his maps! Im always home I don't work.

But, I sit here and worry about my husband and grown kids who work. My daughter can take off if her children have off school, but my son can NOT take off. My husband is a boss and he MUST go to work no matter the weather.

Also I have a Dr apt Fri and theyre calling for more snow Thurs. The Dr is an hour from us in hickville here. If I cant get there I will be OUT of meds.

So frankly, Im ready for SPRING. Period.

Hey Shorty2U, we're about 2 hours west of your area and they're predicting between 6 to 12 inches as of this morning. The winds are supposed to be making it feel like minus 15 later tonight.

I understand your concern for your husband/kids as well; been there, done that. My oldest son is going to start his externship very soon and he has to commute an hour north. He went up yesterday to sign all the paperwork, etc. and they wanted him to report this morning again at 9 am since his "day off" from his school is Tuesdays. I tried to talk him out of it since he just got his license very recently, but he's stubborn and knowing him, I knew he would try to go. He ended up texting me to say his supervisor called him and said he didn't have to drive up with the weather conditions. Whew, I was relieved.

As far as your doc appt. on Friday, I would think if you call his office and let them know you need more meds, they would at least call in a scrip for a few to at least get you through until you can get in.

I never heard of a paid snow day. That would be nice. Guess it depends where you work. Things rarely close up here, but if they do, you take a vacation day if you want to get paid.

bikerbabe, no winter and no rain?? Omgosh! I would be so unhappy too. Do you have a residence or a place anywhere else other than So. CA? I can sort of relate to what you're saying. We didn't have a second place. Just FL. But, I really wanted to have a place with changing seasons and beautiful snowy winters every year. It took over 5 years, but we finally did it, and now have a place we love in both FL and KY. (My husband's father, brothers & sisters, nieces/nephews, etc. are all in the KY area, and with the loss of his (hubby's) mother two years ago, it's been really tough on his dad. It's been great being here and my parents have visited twice in the last few months, so it's all good.)

I hope things get better for you. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup1}

Yup, I sure live in the wrong part of the country for my personal preferences. DH has asthma so he doesn't do cold weather very well anymore. We often travel in summer but it's not an option for me since going back to school - I'm looking to get into nursing school. Total career change for me!

Today was a snow day for all schools in the area and we have already received word that tomorrow will be the same. We have about 6 inches.

I am babysitting overnight at my daughter's in central NJ. The kids had an early dismissal and I'm sure there will be a snow day tomorrow.
