Smithsonian Channel

I didn't even realize there was the Smithsonian Channel but someone on FB made a post about a documentary about Ernest Shackleton and his trip to Antarctica on the Endurance on this channel and I have a big interest for him. I checked my guide and we do have that channel and we also have it on iNDemand. They have some really great programming on that channel. Not only did I watch the show on Shackleton but also a documentary about the Doors and one about Rap music. All were really great. I also love the iNDemand feature because I can watch whatever I want when I have time.

They also have some profiles on several people to celebrate Black History month and I will be watching one about the Greensboro 4 tonight.

Just wanted to give a heads up to those who may not know about this channel.

Good Evening Irshgrl! Smithsonian is one of my favorite channels! I just love Aerial America, Air Disaster's, and many documentaries. They have one on the bombing of PanAm 103 that blew up over Lockerbie that is very interesting, but frustrating and sad. It's a great channel with smart viewing. I know I'm learning something when I watch one of their shows. So it's not a waste of time ${#emotions_dlg.thumbup}$

I am going to watch Aerial Maine tonight after the Greensboro 4. I will look for the one about PanAm 103 so thank you for letting me know about that one.

I am SO happy I found this channel because I love stuff like this, I just wish I had found this sooner.

We had it when we first got Directv and then it was gone, free for some reason. Then my husband had it added back on & it's been great, learning so much. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do, Irshgrl!!

Yes, it's a great channel, & much better than watching bachelors, the k women, honeybooboos & the like. I don't know about you, but I'm paying a lot of $$ for my cable bundle (much to my chagrin) so really make an effort to find & watch good programs. Enjoy!

It's available on Direct TV only if you take the HD package. Makes me so mad because I want it but am not going to pay for HD.
