@Laura14, if you live in any area populated with raccoons, squirrels, chipmunks and the like and will be parking outside, ask the salesman (or even better research yourself) what the wiring is made of. Some of the newer cars, Hyundai and Honda in particular, have wiring with soy in their makeup and the animals eat on it at night while you're peaceful sleeping. Will not be under your warranty and you will pay out of pocket.

How small do you want to go? And does it need to be a brand new car, or are you willing to consider a 2-3 year old vehicle? I have a couple of friends who absolutely love their Mini Coopers. A brand new one will be over $20,000, but a late model used one can easily be had in that range.

@FrostyBabe1 I have or had one of the smallest with the Fiat 500 so barring the Smart car which is ridiculous, I'm really okay with little.
I love the Mini Cooper look but they are expensive and I've heard you have to have them serviced at a delaership. That could be a problem if I ever moved away.

@Mmsfoxxie Now THAT is something I have never thought of. I currently have a garage but good to know if I do move. Who would have thought?

@saltysails yes, I agree with the height of the seat in the corolla, It is much easier getting in and out of corolla than the civic, I f I were looking at either the civic or corolla for myself today i would go woth corolla due to knee issues. Sounds like Laura is quite small so it may not be an issue for her I agree,. Both are good cars, corolla also seems roomier to me.Someone mentioned yaris, , I have never really looked at those.

I am 5' 2" tops so that's why I stick with the smaller cars. I think I am going to buy my first automatic too. After breaking my first bone with my wrist last summer, aging and health issues are becoming something to think about with a car.

I sure didn't. When I took my car in the first time to the tune of over $800, I really didn't believe the mechanic when he said animals had chewed my car wires. I always parked in the driveway. Within a month, I was back at the service dept. The little darlings had chewed in another place. Another $500!! In the garage my car has been since then.

@webbgarner1, it's not all models. Mine is the 2015 Hyundai Accent. I fault them because they know this happens. It's the soy they are using......environmentally friendly, they say. I googled it. If there ever is a class action suit, I will be a part of it.
