We just went into town to a sidewalk art festival - lots of beautiful things to see - all local artists. However , the prices were atrocious and I did not see anyone carrying any packages. Seriously, not one person carrying a bag. It made me sad because I would like to support local small businesses and artists but when they are asking $42 for a stretch bracelet made from gem nuggets or pieces of broken shells that you could get anywhere for $5 they are just not going to do well. I was looking at some pretty photo prints of flowers - very pretty but they are just photo prints - matted but not framed - 8x10 - he wanted $64. You could go into any number of art & craft shows and get those for $20 or less. DH was interested in the local historic society stand so I got him a book from there about the history of our town. It was $10 for me but i had to show my driver's license to prove I was a resident - it was $15 if you don't live here. When we got back my neighbor asked what we had bought and I said just this book because it was all to expensive so she said she wasn't going then. it was nice that because of the Viet Nam memorial wall being in town and that art show the small restaurants and businesses were more crowded than usual.
