@stevieb  If remembering correctly you're Pacific NW?

Being a SF native wasn't easy to leave for Denver 25 years ago but within a week it felt like home here in Denver. So glad we did it, would never go back.

Of course SF isn't the same as it was then and has declined tremendously. If that has happened in your area it's refreshing to leave that behind.

@rockygems123  Actually I'm mid-Atlantic, but I completely commiserate on SF. Once a favorite destinations. Last time, it just made me so sad. The declines in my area aren't quite as glaring as in some major cities and oddly enough certain suburbs seem to have been hard hit, but I'm just fed up with too many people, too much traffic and very glaring declines that are evident virtually any time I venture into certain areas.

@stevieb   I just remembered who is out west, think it's seamaiden who hasn't posted in a while.

It is sad SF has declined, it was fun before not now.  When I go to reunions my friends won't take me there, only to nicer places like Monterey, Napa Valley, Tahoe etc.

Too many people, traffic like you say is frustrating and we shouldn't be at this age.  Maybe when we were younger and it didn't matter ha,

Funny thing coming to Denver, the natives think it's super fast paced.  Contrasting to the Bay Area, not so much even with our population growth here.

If you did make a change would it be far or within your region?  I'm such an advocate of change and daily thank our move.  Not saying it works for everyone but I'm very grateful.

@rockygems123  Part of me would like to opt out of the region altogether and part of me simply like to move to a smaller city in a nearby state. Right now, I'm just data gathering and looking at options. The choice, assuming I ever make one, won't be easy, but odds are if I move it'll be within the same general region, though there are so many other places I think I might like to settle.

@QVCkitty1   Just curious,  would this happen to be in Monmouth County NJ.  This past Saturday, Nov 11. our local football team had the exact same welcome back home too.  Police escort and all.  Anyway, congrats on your towns win!

I've lived in the suburbs of Detroit my whole life. We moved and retired on a lovely lake in the upper, lower peninsula of Michigan in a very small, rural town. LOVE! Everyone knows you. Everyone wonders how you are if they don't see you for awhile. Small town traditions are so endearing. Heart

@ID2

I have a friend who is a yooper and now lives here in Denver.  She went back for about 1/2 of the year this year to house sit, the pics were outstanding!  So beautiful.

@sophiesofers  I'm not QVCkitty1, but I'm from Monmouth County, but from a different town as we never had a football team.

I was a  Coach's wife in a small town back when Preachers and Teachers were on pedestals!

Nothing like the atmosphere in a small town when you win a Championship!  I got to experience that!

High school athletics are a big part of small town life. About half of the articles in our weekly paper are devoted to school activities. Plenty of sports news, but lots of academic stuff too. It certainly gives the impression all is well, but small towns have their share of social problems - and of course there are the nosy neighbors who watch everything you do.

A few weeks ago I posted about our local football team winning a  playoff game !  Well two games later and they are going to states. We are small but we have a great coach and most important a wonderful team. Win or lose they have made us proud !šŸˆšŸˆ
