One reason why I truly dislike cell phones and only use mine for emergency use. I feel it is an addiction just like anything else.  I hate it when I am in my nail shop and someone comes in and sits in the chair next to me and talks on her phone the entire time, and I am forced to hear the entire conversation.

Agree 100%.  It is an addiction.  I sometimes feel like asking what they are looking at that's so important.  And it will only get worse with AI.

@kaydee50   Don't you hate that.  One incident is so clear in my mind.  We were in airport, waiting in chairs by our gate.  This woman, was on phone telling her housesitter where to find key to her door,  she opened up with, oh no I gave you the wrong number, then proceeded to repeat her home address, we knew what city she lived in already by some previous remarks.it was one of the most prominent towns in Silicon Valley.  She then proceeded to go over where to walk dog, when.  And the list went on. I was sooooo tempted to tap her on the shoulder and let her know we all could hear her loudly, but I didn't and wouldn't. Many people heard her.  It was such a release of info. By end of call we knew her sisters name, she had an ex husband her dogs name, oh....and her sister was having an affair and she was mad at her!! Before end of call the man a couple of chairs away said, "well, it's a good thing I'm not a burgler...or worse"....

Last time I was at the nail salon, I sat next to someone that chatted on her phone the whole time.  I can't say it I was offended, but I did find it rude.  I use my phone but not to talk.  I read news and forums to pass the time.

When we are out to eat, I usually bring my phone.  The only reason for it to be out is if we wonder about a topic while we're talking and "Google it".  Also check on the dogs sometime.  I try to remember to put it on Do Not Disturb.

I was at a Dr's appt earlier this week.  I'd forgotten to put the phone on DND.  Sure enough, Benson Boone's Mystical Magical ringtone rang Smiley Surprised  I quickly declined the call and put it on DND.  A few minutes later, it rang again!  It's not supposed to do that unless someone calls 3x in 15 minutes.  SO embarrassed!  When the Dr came in she asked if it was me playing Benson Boone lol  I apologized.  She said oh it's fine, you got me moving and grooving, I liked it Smiley Happy

Re: Situation with Customer in Restaurant

I was recently at a store and there were VERY unruly children. The store manager told Mom she would have to control her children or leave the store. I later told the manager that she was my hero.

Whether in a fast food place or a fancy-dancy linen table cloth restaurant, the facility has a responsibility to make dining pleasant. After all the food isn't free.

On another note I have been in some clothing stores where the kids are so unruly they have  come close to knocking over some of the older customers. Not acceptable!!

If that was your worst problem of the day consider yourself lucky, it means you had a good day.

After having innumerable outings in restaurants ruined by obnoxious kids, with parents who do nothing, this seems minor.,

Post on the restaurant's website that your dining experience was unpleasent because of the ... and management did nothing to stop it.

@walkingal  She also should have known better and had respect for others who were dining.
I have severe hearing loss and wear hearing aids that are connected to Bluetooth. My phone is always on silent mode as nobody wants to hear my phone pinging including me. If I were to watch a video in a restaurant, which I would not I would have closed captioning on so as not to disturb anyone.
There are people who think that they are the only ones in the room, restaurant, grocery aisle, etc.and nothing is going to change them, unfortunately.
My son and I went to a nice restaurant a few months ago and a woman came alone and had a book to read, which was great. However, she also had a horrible runny nose and cough that came up from her toes. She wore a mask over her nose except when she had to blow it- many times and pulled down the mask to eat and cough. Luckily, she ate and left. We didn't say anything to her because I don't think it would have done any good since she came into the restaurant sick. Fortunately, we didn't get sick.

@monicakm  I know what you mean.  I always take a book with me when I have appointments.  And I have to chuckle -- I am always the only person reading a book.

@nrm  It sounds like the lady should have stayed home.  Glad you didn't catch anything.
