I have not noticed that about the salads. I buy salads a couple of times a week from several fast food places (trying to eat more veggies); I haven't noticed any changes in the sizes. However, they all have side order salads in addition to the big salads. Maybe that's what you got. I don't buy KFC but perhaps the smaller size is a response to customers wanting fewer calories and less fat but more likely they made the pot pies smaller so that they wouldn't have to raise prices.

I haven't noticed the fast food difference but that's because I can't remember when I was to any, but what I have noticed is that I'm paying more for veggies and fresh fruits as well as all chicken and fish, so I'm not surprised either the size decreased or their prices increased.

It would be nice if all fast food shrank into vanishing. A bad way to eat. I just go hungry if I eat my way through my snacks before I am done with errands. It even smells foul.

@Kachina624Half of my major was nutrition, and I continually study. Unless your skin can absorb 6 oz of protein a day, "ain't happenin"!!!

@CrazyDaisy I think you are right about that, that shrinkage of food was caused by complainers about the oversized portions. I have been hearing that for about 20 years and I think, maybe even, McDonald's was forced to cut the portions of Big Macs and some other foods. Our Chick Fil A has the best, freshest portions for the buck. Their staff are always pleasant, their food seems fresh and I have never had one of them get an order wrong, even when I was ordering for my 3 grandchildren, my husband, myself, with children scrambling around in the car and talking too much and too loud.

@Still Raining That's unfortunate you feel that way because Chick Fil A is still a quality place to eat. Their salads are always fresh and they completely closed their salad orders down when there was a salad scare recently, not just for the time period but for a few weeks afterward to ensure the lettuce (all kinds) was safe for their customers. They are the only fastfood place I know that has personnel inside helping at the tables and seeing if you need something, picking up your plates, etc.

@Still RainingYes, a lot of nutritionists and physicians have pointed to studies that it has been a contributory factor to the record high obesity rates we have in our population.

Just check the sodium levels, fat content and high carbohydrates in a fast food meal and the calories are sometimes enough for an entire day's worth of food intake. I avoid them like the plague...
