@deepwaterdotter. The shamrock pin is significant to her being named Colonel of the Irish Guards.  She was given the title when William became Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

I think the military touches to the dress and the extra shamrock pin, along with the heavier makeup, are for the parade venue today.  It carries on the theme of the military uniforms and the troops and makes her more visible to the parade crowds.

All very appropriate for the tone of the day and the setting.

She is definitely lovely...always looks so perfectly put together...well-rested and energetic.

I do think that it all must be quite exhausting to have to look so perfect all of the time...so many engagements, obligations and responsibilities...I'm sure it isn't as easy as it may look and seem.

I would like to see just one photo of Kate & William when they first wake up in the mornings!...LOL

Kate always has outside beauty in her fashions, her radiant smile but it is her inside beauty which I admire.  She is gracious, dignified, dedicated to many causes, graceful and kind,  always an asset to the royal family.
