The full article about the story says her family was aware of her lifelong problem with severe depression and anxiety. It sounded like the family loved her very much, and did not abandon her.
There's only so much family and friends can do, no matter how much love and care the give.

It takes time to remove content, how is it FaceBook's fault she followed through with her suicide plan?

Face book is an addiction, people can't seem to live without it and will defend it at any cost. If people don't know why it's their fault they are evidently one of the addicted. It's hard to believe that people share such personal things on Face book then wonder why they are taken advantage of and criticized. Again, you put yourself out there and you set yourself up for whatever comes your way.

So sorry for your loss I hope everyone involved permanently deletes their FB accounts.

There are also a lot of people who understand Facebook, are educated about how it works, know how to adjust their settings, what to post, what not to post, etc. And have good, positive experiences with it all the time.
I see so many complaints about Facebook here that have absolutely nothing to do with Facebook itself - It's the people who use it, the people they chose as friends, their settings, etc. that are the direct cause of so many rants against Facebook. Nothing on the internet is totally safe and totally private. Not here, not there. All any of us can do is be smart about what we use and how we use it. Even here on the QVC forums.

Plenty of people have Facebook accounts and are not addicted. Some post more personal info than others. Some post more often than others. Some share photos all the time and comment on friends' posts, some never do. I have many Facebook friends who rarely post and who only check in every now and then, sometimes not for months.
Not everyone uses Facebook in the same way. I don't doubt that some people are addicted, but people can become addicted to anything. What you're saying is a huge generalization that is not at all true.

Someone was stalking me on fb a year or so ago and FB was very quick to respond - within minutes.
The woman who posted the picture wasn't thinking straight. Perhaps it was her way of screaming for help, we don't know. Either way, she posted it. I'm not supporting FB and i do feel awful for her family. It's a very sad situation.

I sold my stock, how sincere can my disgust be to actually lose money? Unfortunately they continue to do well in the market.

I am not on Facebook. Actually I did join for about ten minutes then took myself off. I realized I have no need for this site and could see the problems that would follow. I certainly do not suffer for my decision and in fact have no regrets for doing it.
With that being said this tragedy is an example of something that shouldn't be on a site for everyone to see it especially a grieving family. I am sorry for them and their loss.
There is good and bad in all the technology we have. While Facebook is nice to post pictures of happy situations, get in touch with friends and relatives, it has its downside. If only normal intelligent decent people used Facebook it would be fine. But unfortunately it becomes an outlet for those who are unstable, doing bad things, using it for negative and harmful goals.
I am not surprised at what happened because the people I know who have Facebook complain often about it and I just listen. Maybe there should be watchdogs or perhaps changes to prevent such wrong doings. People will defend the site to the end but they know its downside and it is a decision to make for each individual whether to join.
