Right now, I'm shaking my head after reading a post (a different thread) from someone who has no concept of Covid. I kid you not.

Not sure if you are speaking to anything in specific, or just the general mashup of things as they stand now. The health situation, the election, demonstrations, violence, etc. It's a lot to take in, that's for sure. I find myself shaking my head a lot, too and thinking -- goodness -- what's next or when will this madness be resolved? And a lot of things are definitely not helped by some people's additional actions, to be sure. I have to turn off media at times because I am overloaded and find myself getting short circuited. I find if I go outside a take a walk, it helps to clear my head for a bit. We need to find diversions and make ourselves turn to other things to get to our happy place!

My mom died almost 52 years ago when I was 29. As you said, I still miss her every day. I am now 11 years older than she was when died. Some of the reason I am still among the living, is because of the way she showed me the right way to live life.

It to me @goldensrbest was looking at how she viewed the world around her in the present. Part of my reply addressed that, and also how my past, has allowed me to live in the present.
In my journey through my many decades of life, I was able to put myself in positions, that allowed me to meet and directly communicate with thousands of people from other countries, and our own. Doing so allowed me to see the differences in many people, and as I said, in that respect I see little has changed.
Sure, times have changed for me both good and bad. People around me have also changed, but not in any way that has changed who they are, or their depth of character. As I have almost all of my life, I focus on the present, not the past or the future. Since I cannot control world changing events, why would I get worked up about that? Answer, I won't, don't.

If by "paying attention" you mean trying to keep abreast of the latest news? I do that on a daily, sometimes hourly, part of my present daily life.
Contrary to your view that if "I don't feel squirrely", read my above paragraph. Sure, life around me has changed some in different ways, but my life has not. And to answer your question about turning into bobbleheads? Mine is the other way right now.

@hckynut I've always aspired to living in the now which entails being only a silent observer. Good for you that you have no reactions to current events and can be that observer, that you will be good no matter the outcome. I have grandchildren, I have a good sense of major generational life and death challenges in the near future so it's more of a challenge for me to quietly observe. I fear, knowing what is afoot in dark powers and I'm not talking silly stuff. Living in the now is always the best option whenever we can step into that precious zone. But right now, everyone needs to also be paying very close attention because we are on a serious cusp. I fault no one for being scared poopless. In fact, it is they who may save us all.

We will be fine. Love always wins. Causes always have effects. Actions always have consequences. There's no such thing as floating above it all and not feeling the effects of things. We're all in this soup together. And what happens to one of us affects us all. What happens to you affects me.
So if you want love, be loving. That powerfully creates a world with more love in it than if you had held back. More love becomes available to you personally because you expanded and increased the love available to us all. If you want clarity, be clear. If you want something fixed, fix what's front of you.
I do my best to remember these things. It makes me so much happier and at ease when I remember I have all this power to shape the world I experience.

@hckynut. Your mom did good by you, John. Someday when you meet up with her on the "other side", you'd better give her a big hug and say "thanks, mom!". 😉
