Expected late this evening and overnight. Have you ever noticed that it's ALWAYS overnight??? I'm in Atlanta and they have some of our suburbs listed as a 4 out of 5 for severe weather outbreak, including strong tornadoes.

I gotta tell you, my nerves are a little on edge today, but I'll be fine.  First we all have the pandemic.  Now we have the potential severe weather and you have to wonder if heaven forbid, you lose your house, where do you go?  I have my sister in Atlanta and obviously I would break the social distancing rules and head there or they could come here, but then what?  Hotels aren't really open. Can you imagine having to find an apartment,  get furniture and stuff during all this?

And my husband has had a rough few weeks so throw that in the mix and it's enough to get you a little jittery.  But again, I'm fine.

I have our two tornado totes packed with anything we would need immediately if we were displaced. My phone is fully charged and my iPad soon will be.

Anyway,  I am rambling.  For all those in the path of this severe weather today, stay safe.

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

North Alabama here.  We're expecting it to start around noon here.  However, the rain we were supposed to get around 8:00 this morning was very little.  I am not at all prepared. I sorta live my life that way.

Replying from the suburbs 20 miles south of Atlanta.  I'm worried, too.  Prayers for everyone in the path of this weather and for all to be safe amid virus and weather!

I'm in North GA, Cherokee County. Former Savannah and Wilmington Island resident here. Used to the hurricanes and tropical storms but the tornado risk is scary to me. Hope everyone is safe and sound tonight.

Re: Severe weather in Southeast

I am in Central Illinois and we just went through this On March 28 during the stay at home order.  Actually had a tornado right in town, but thankfully there was minimal damage.  I am like you @gidgetgh , and had my two large totes packed up and ready to go to the basement.

All at once, my iPhone went off, the city tornado siren went off, the tv weather person told us to take cover and the weather radio went off.  We headed to the basement for about 20 minutes until the all clear order was issued.

I will be thinking of all of you in this danger area today and praying there will be no tornadoes and no damage.  That is the last thing we need in addition to the DERN virus and stay at home orders.

One of our local meteorologists, Glenn Burns, just posted this for Atlanta and North Georgia:

"It's going to be bad.  I am not going to sugar coat it.  I need you all to prepare.  Make sure you have a plan so that when I start relaying the warnings, you won't have to think about it".

I'm hearing the thunder already, but according to Weather.com the storm is still off to the west.

@50Mickey

I live on Wilmington Island and have since I was 8 years old and I'm almost 67 now, I love this island!

During my wanderlust years, I did live in CT, VT, VA, ME for a year or so in each state and 7 years in Los Angeles, but like Dorothy said, "there's no place like home!Heart"
