Church I drove by this morning

I drive by this church often.  They have a large parking lot out front.

It looked like they were prepared to have an Easter service.  There was a person out by the road, giving directions to those driving in.

Beyond the road, I could see the lot, with attendants having people park in alternate parking spaces.

I guessed that they were going to have services outside.  Everyone had a lot of space in between them.  Kind of a clever idea, if what I guessed, is what they did.

has anyone heard of another church doing things this way?

A Lutheran church in my town held a drive-in Easter sunrise service today.  I'm sure it was well-attended.  A safe alternative to share the joy that He is risen.

Re: Church I drove by this morning

Yeah, @september ,  we had the option this week of the online service our church does, or today on Easter Sunday, of attending, cars spaced wide apart, in the parking lot and tuning in to the service, which somehow was broadcast on FM radio to the immediate area.  I have no idea how they do this radio thing-- my son could explain it!

As it happens, we elected to just continue with the online service on Facebook.  It's really well done, and of course we can interact, commenting on the service and "greeting" each other, etc. online.

I have to admire the extent to which they are trying to maintain that vital sense of community while remaining safely apart.  We've also had teams of volunteer callers, who've called all the members, to make sure they are doing OK and to ask if they have any prayer concerns we can address.

Wonderful story---  one of the volunteer callers got a "wrong number" and reached an older woman (not a church member) in the county who lives rather remotely, and was worried about getting food.  The pastor informed us that that volunteer caller, took it upon herself to get the woman's groceries, and have them delivered safely to her home.  So you could say it wasn't a "wrong" number, after all!

Yes, I've heard of this too. Church services like a drive-in movie theater.

@september

I haven't seen or heard of that.  I noticed yesterday though on my run to the dairy that the Catholic church down the road was having drive-thru confessions.

Some have done that, but most suggested we go to their Facebook page for the service.

Not gonna say too much on this topic ....... ask the posters from Kentucky how their state handled it ...... especially the Louisville mayor. Interesting how some see it as alright and others see it as not.
