Re: Sentencing in Rust Movie Set Death

I hope the judge holds Baldwin accountable; I have never been a fan of his arrogance, but having seen him chit-chat about the incident on tv just sickens me. I know the armorer was just as horrified as he was...but the gun didn't discharge by itself while he was holding it; is that going to be his defense after she has been found guilty?

I was surprised the sentece was only 18 months since it involved a death. Alec Baldwin still says he didn't fire the gun; the armorer seems to be the scapegoat. I would be very upset if he is not held accountable for his part in this poor woman's death. I can only imagine the heartbreak her family must still be dealing with.

That's what I don't get - he said over and over he "didn't fire the gun." If he didn't, who did?

You're right. I am talking REAL life where someone was murdered.

I'm done talking to you, too.

Then I'll jump in.....

The person whose job it was to make sure it was loaded with only blanks didn't do THEIR JOB.

I read an article saying that the actor second guessed actually pointing the gun at ANYONE, but they told him the armorer had cleared the gun.

But, you continue with your vendetta against you know who......

I wonder who hired her and what her credentials were?

...and if she wasn't qualified or was drinking and doing drugs then why was she not replaced.  Safety should be the first job requirement for this position and if she was putting others in danger with her lack of experience or behavior on set then it seems maybe Alec should have addressed the issue to insure everyones safety..

I really can't add anything of value. Like other posters, I feel this was a terrible, senseless tragedy that could've easily been prevented.❤️

After reading what the arms handler had to say in jail, I'm just stunned!

Re: Sentencing in Rust Movie Set Death

I believe her father was a well respected armourer and she was starting out in the business. The buck stops with her, otherwise why go through the expenditure of having an armorer which is required on sets for obvious safety reasons that are under the various unions. No one person or actor knows it or can do it all.

It's like blaming the server for a bad hamburger that can also kill you instead of the cook. Buck stops with the food safety certified preparer and not the person who handled the plate last.

And this younger generation floors me with their lack of common sense. Why would you ever critique the judge and jury on recorded phone calls before he sentences you? That alone shows her inability to use her head and follow common sense rules and logic.

Her lack of insight on this whole experience is breathtaking and she still doesn't seem to get it. Glad to see she got a healthy dose of the book being thrown. Maybe she'll get it in the next 18 months. I'm usually not a fan of crowding the prison system for such a short period of time, but in this case, I am glad they are making room.

It matters not how tough the judge is, if Baldwin is found guilty, he can only be sentenced within the guidelines of the law.

I think she should have gotten more time but the law only called for 18 months.

When my dad served in the military, he was an armourer. Pertaining to this case, he said you never point a weapon at someone else unless you intend to use it and always assume a gun is loaded. Period.

I wonder if Alec Baldwin had been filming a suicide scene, if he would have checked that pistol beforehand?

I agree with you.  If Baldwin was playing a Russian roulette scene like in the movie "The Deer Hunter"  you better believe he would have checked that gun thoroughly.
