@millieshops : Totally understand. Was trying to find ingredients for quick easy meals with few ingredients like one pot or dish that would satisfy or keep us full. No bags of dried beans: growing up we had meals that included a pot of beans, corn bread, relish and sliced tomatoes. We always had something to eat. 🙏❤️ for you and everyone. Southern Bee

I'm okay for now - not ill, not hungry. It's the uncertainty of what I need to be doing to be safe a month or two from now. I know I'm not alone with this concern and know there's no easy answer.
You really verbalize what I'm feeling.
I'm ok right now. I have all the stuff I need, we are healthy, husband's job is not very likely to go down (UPS) unless they stop all shipping.
But I'm trying to wrap my mind around what the powers that be are telling us is yet to come, and the longer time frame they are now thinking it will last, and the real uncertainty that we will be able to drive this far enough under that it doesn't just come back after all this loss and sacrifice (at least until there is a vaccine, and even then.....well, who knows if that will even be very effective). Just how long can we simply shut things down, and think we can come back financially, and then what?
It feels like we are living in some movie. It just doesn't feel real.

Grocery shopping isn't an issue around here. We have small supermarkets every couple of blocks. Each one attracts a different kind of shopper.
It's not like suburban areas where one supermarket will cater to a large population.
I rarely ever have to wait in line to check out. There are usually more employees in the store than shoppers when I'm in there - generally late morning. Before I retired, I would stop in on the way home from work .... that's when the store gets busy.

My shelves are stocked. So I don't need food yet but it's stressful!
Each morning when I wake up I usually think of my plans for the day. This morning after only five days at home I remembered," I'm not still asleep, it's a living nightmare that doesn't stop!"
Then I pet my dog and that makes it better. Then I clean the house again.
I've been doing tai chi outside after dinner while watching the sunset. I must concentrate on the slow movements and my mind can't wander.
If I wake during the night and think too much I do tai chi in my mind, my shoulders relax and sleep comes.
My cousin does yoga. Whatever helps!

DH & I were at our local supermarket at 6am today,in the pouring rain. They have senior hours every day from 6am-7:30am. They had some toilet paper, we were limited to 2 bundles. They had no meat or poultry at all. We were able to get paper towels, crackers, bagels, lox, snacks, frozen dinners, soap, antibacterial spray, bread, jam,OJ & cold cuts.
I liked ordering from the delivery service last weekend.I was able to get chicken & ground beef.I also didn't have to maneuver through half empty crowded isles. Then wait on a long checkout line.
When I got home I gave my elderly neighbor one of the bundles of toilet paper, OJ, bread & jam. She's afraid to go out because of the virus. So We're looking out for her.

For the first time ever we ordered from Amazon Fresh. I placed my order last night and my delivery slot was today between 6:00PM and 8:00PM The driver showed up at 6:20 PM and placed the bags at our front door. We had ordered a few items of produce, but not too much since we weren't sure of the quality. The apples, bananas, green peppers and leaf lettuce was just perfect. Every other item we ordered arrived and nothing was missed or damaged.
I'm not sure that I will continue using this service once the crisis is over. But for now, I will order this way to avoid going into the grocery stores.

I would not risk it. Almost every grocer now offers a delivery service. I am not going to take a risk by shopping even if we have to hunker down for a few more months
Store deliveries are overwhelmed in my area. I tried pickup or delivery from three different Walmarts and they were all booked out a week ahead and not taking any more bookings. So I went into my neighborhood grocery when it first opened this morning. Was able to get a few things. Still no toilet paper, though. And why was there no flour or yeast? Is everyone planning to take up baking??

@MamaWick Our local "Co-Op" market just started a "Senior Hour" from 7-8am. We shopped it and got most of what we needed. Chicken was in short supply. As far as we know, our local Hannaford, Price Chopper and Shaw's supermarkets haven't followed suit.

I am not going out any more than absolutely necessary, but when I need to get food items, etc., then I have to go. I am not going out on the senior hours because I don't think it will be any better. And now that so many people are out of work, I don't think any particular time is better than any other. I pray every time I go out the door!

This is a horrible idea! You couldn’t pay me enough to go to a senior shopping hour. Crowds of people standing in line, no social distancing... It isn’t better to get the virus from a senior than a younger person.
