Senator Ed Brooke Passed Away

Senator Ed Brooke recently passed away at the age of 95. He was the first AA to be elected to the U.S. Senate. He also had an affair with Barbara Walters back in the day. Fallout from a messy divorce ultimately cost him his Senate seat, but his accomplishments while in office were noteworthy. Rest in peace, Senator Brooke.

Re: Senator Ed Brooke Passed Away

Senator Brooke lived a long and full life. He was the first popularly elected African-American to the Senate, the first to become a state Attorney General. He was considered a liberal Republican. He was the first senator to call for Nixon's resignation. He served his country and Massachusetts- Rest in peace.

Geez. I guess I'm not allowed to comment on this thread. Mine was the first response, and now it's gone. Why?

What a shame, RainCityGirl, I didn't even see your earlier reply. :-( I guess Webbie is afraid that this topic could get controversial.

I guess it's not that big of deal, but all I said was I thought all along when Babs wrote her revealing book that he was already long gone. I hadn't realized he was still alive when she published. I feel bad for him, but maybe Babs got his permission to write it. Anyway, may he rest in peace now.
