Re: Sean Combs update!

[ Edited ]

Which is why I believe that this jury got it 100% correct.

The RICO was prosecutorial overreach and patently absurd.  A one-man organized crime ring?  Laughable.

The jury didn't buy the trafficking charges because there was overwhelming evidence that the participation was voluntary.

So they were left with charges from the 1910 Mann Act!  How archaic.

That's the best that the Justice Department had, but funneled money and six senior prosecutors into it.

I can't seem to get the image out of my mind of the video of Combs beating and dragging his girlfriend down the hallway. Talk about being a danger to others. Good for the judge for denying bail.

The sheer magnitude of the arsenal of guns and ammo he had (nevermind the drugs and baby oil) would make me wonder what he needed those for.  Target practice?  Woman Surprised

ETA:  And of course his family were delighted.  He's the golden goose, isn't he?  At least for the time being.

I wouldn't be surprised if he had numerous off shore accounts to hide his money from taxes like so many other wealthy people have done.

well if you ask me, @THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes , there ought to be tax evasion charges in there somewhere. lol lol this case was hard for me, because without knowing all his personal doo-doo I thought he was a good business man, and always worked hard...in the beginning anyway.  He is a huge disappointment. My thought is now, any woman ( or man) who comes near him in the near futile ,thinking his games will not include her.... has it in for herself.

Question ...

Juries are unpredictable, but I keep thinking about the gender breakdown.

The jury consisted of eight men and four women.

Would the outcome been much difference if there had been more women than men on the jury?

In general, in rape or sexual assault cases, defense attorneys prefer more women on the jury as the women will judge the other woman more, while a male jury will judge the man. Women will generally be more inclined to say, "She shouldn't have put herself into that situation,"  while the men will say, "He shouldn't have done that no matter what." If you go by precedence, this wasn't a good jury for Combs. His attorneys would have likely preferred more women on the jury.

In this particular case, I think that age and race are even more telling.

The average age was 52, spanning 30 to 74.

@THEY CallMe Mr Wilkes Didn't know being against trasnporting women across transport women across state lines for the purpose of prostitution or debauchery, or for any other immoral purpose was archaic.  You learn something every day around here!
