Re: ETA:Re: School bus crash

There's an ABC report here which includes information on the bus company.  I don't see how they stay in business, they have a horrible record.

Allegedly one of the children reported that, I hope it's not true, also Woman Surprised

@Noel7, when we first heard about it, first words out my mouth to husband were, "I wonder if he was texting."  How on earth can you wrap a huge school bus around a tree, he had to have been under the influence or not paying attention?  So, so upsetting.

OMG, from what's being reported from the Daily News, it seems the driver did it on purpose.

Did you see the the statement he supposedly said, just before the crash? If it is true  ...lock him up and throw away the key.

RIP sweet little angels.

I can't think of anything worse than losing my children in such a horrible , dying without us to comfort them. I can't imagine their fear. I can't imagine remembering their excitement of the holidays, the traditions forever changed , the holidays forever changed, the dreams we have for our kids extinguished. I can't imagine my future shaped by the passing of my children.

There's nothing more important than our children and those to whom we entrust their safety. Pinching pennies and complaining about taxes gets more than doing the right thing.

I don't understand why the driver drove so fast. Those poor families are going through what no one should ever have to . . .

We saw on local news an interview of one of the parents whose daughter was on the bus.  Her daughter told her, "He asked if we were ready to die."   How horrendous is that and those poor little children!!

I know the bus driver was at fault, but when are they going to put seat belts in buses? I remember when we were riding buses to go to school and kids were all over the bus. This should be addressed, those poor kids.

The #1 argument against   seat belts on school buses is COST. Hard to believe isn't it?

_______________

Another concern, with seat belts, on school buses, apparently, is the possibility of fire, after an accident.

Especially, with young children, what if confusion and fear, delayed, dangerously, getting the kids off the bus?  What if some of the little ones, forgot how to operate the belt?

I'm not sure, realistically, how much of a concern that should be; what the chances are?

It's just such a nightmare!

@happycat, when my husband and I heard that poor Mother, we both just stared at one another in like what???  There aren't enough words to describe how those children felt!  Considering how that bus was wrapped around that tree, I don't think seat belts would've helped, that was some serious speed..
