Re: Scam Call From U.S. Treasury

I've had the IRS calls, the lowering your credit card rate call, and just yesterday once again got the call about the horrible virus my windows computer has. Just when I thought it was safe to go back in the wate,..........they're back. The IRS doesn't call you even when you are getting audited. The credit card thing just wants your confidential info. And I don't even have a Windows computer, but that doesn't stop them. Reporting these calls doesn't help. Neither does the infamous Comcast call screening. I love when the credit card call says it's my final notice to take advantage of their offer....and then they keep calling.

I love nomorobo!

Once a week I will sign onto our phone carrier site, look at the call log and add the missed calls to the call block list that Fios includes as one of our calling features.  By adding them to the call block list it won't ring at all.

I wish there was a way to block unavailable or unknown.

I got one too. Called them back and told them I didn't  believe them. They said there was a warrant out for my arrest!  I said '" Bring it on - and started laughing.  I SHOULD HAVE NEVER ANSWERED the  call to begin with, according to my  son. If you get one reject or block it. Or they keep calling you back.

Re: Scam Call From U.S. Treasury

Just having an answering machine will cut the number of calls at least in half, probably by two-thirds.  Human telemarketers are told to hang up if they get a recorded message, and *most* robo-recordings recognize your robo-greeting and also disconnect.

The biggest PIT* are the live overseas calls, where they keep calling back as soon as you hang up. At my place of business we've had particularly obnoxious people calling back 6-8 times in a row. Since they are based overseas, they don't have to care what happens and they know it. And our IT and Communications departments don't care either, since they offer nothing to stop it.
