From someone who had to work on the weekends her entire life - I don't feel any particular saddness for UPS or USPS employees who are working on the weekends. I'm sure they get some other day off during the week because the company would not want to have to pay time and a half.

Why would anyone feel sorry for them?  Millions of workers in this country are scheduled to work weekends and holidays and you are correct, they don't work 7 days a week.  They are scheduled to work 5 days a week, I'm sure some work overtime if they want to and if it's offered.  Of course, overtime is mandatory during the Christmas rush but a lot of workers have mandatory overtime during crunch times.  The UPS drivers certainly are not complaining.

exactly MrJTB has worked weekdays and weekends because of the industry he in which he is in.  You have a job and you work the hours.  People need to grow up

sitting here waiting for my Amazon package.

seriously, though we live in a 7day business world why shouldn't there be deliveries everyday

UPS had to get with the program and offer delivery on Saturday , they used to be more business-oriented years and years ago but now they need to serve the customer shopping online

Re: Saturday/Sunday Delivery

Saturday deliveries from USPS are normal and have been forever. Saturday deliveries from UPS used to just be air packages that were time sensitive.

UPS in SOME markets is doing Saturday deliveries. They aren't in doing this in many markets yet, and may not for a long time or ever.

As for Sunday deliveries, no one here does it, and I hope they never start.

How bad are we as a society if we can't plan ahead for what we mostly need, or wait for most things on a six day delivery schedule?

I want at least one day where solicitors aren't ringing my phones off the hook, and deliveries aren't ringing my doorbell.

Re: Saturday/Sunday Delivery

We don't get any UPS deliveries on the weekend nor delivery of USPS on Sundays. I live in the boonies though. My kids that live in the metro area get deliveries 7 days a week. Always have.

Re: Saturday/Sunday Delivery

USPS recently delivered an Amazon order on a Sunday, That was a first. They always delivered on Saturdays though.

Since the regular UPS driver retired I don’t get many UPS deliveries anymore. Most are delivered by the post office. And I have never had a UPS delivery on a Saturday.
